Jr. Network Engineer with Security Clearance

Piper Companies is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to join a growing technology-focused organization in the Durham, NC area. The Junior Network Engineer will support day-to-day network operations, infrastructure maintenance, and on-premises systems while working within a hybrid environment. This Junior Network Engineer role is ideal for someone with a strong systems administration background looking to further develop their networking expertise in an enterprise environment.

Responsibilities of the Junior Network Engineer: • Perform network maintenance activities including patching, cabling, and Layer 1 troubleshooting. • Support and maintain on-premises network infrastructure and connectivity solutions. • Assist with the implementation and integration of cloud service provider (CSP) environments within a hybrid infrastructure. • Troubleshoot network, hardware, and connectivity issues across multiple locations and technologies. • Collaborate with infrastructure and systems teams to ensure network reliability and performance. • Monitor and document network configurations, procedures, and changes. • Provide hands-on support for network equipment installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities.

Qualifications of the Junior Network Engineer: • Must be eligible to obtain a secret clearance. • 2+ years of experience in systems administration, network support, or network engineering. • Hands-on experience with Layer 1 networking, patching, cabling, and physical infrastructure support. • Strong troubleshooting skills across networking and infrastructure environments. • Experience supporting on-premises environments with exposure to hybrid cloud technologies. • CCNA certification required or equivalent networking knowledge. • Familiarity with switches, routers, firewalls, and enterprise networking concepts. • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Compensation for the Junior Network Engineer includes: • Salary range: $90,000 - $115,000 depending on experience • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO • Hybrid work environment This job opens for applications on 09/23/2026.
