Help ***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP*** GS9 This is a trainee position located in a National Guard JFHQ-State organization under the office of the Chief Information Officer(CIO/G6/J6). This is a National Guard Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership. This trainee position is classified at less than the full performance level for recruitment and training purposes. The next higher/target level for this career ladder assignment is Information Technology Specialist(SYSADMIN) Specialist, GS-2210-11, PD D2489000. Assignments are progressively more difficult until the full performance level of GS-2210-11 is reached. Supervisory requirements are progressively less detailed as the incumbent gains more experience. Incumbent may be promoted non-competitively to the next higher/target level position upon meeting the following requirements: (1) Incumbent demonstrates ability to perform at next higher/target grade level; (2) Higher level work exists at target grade level; (3) Increased responsibilities are assigned; (4) Supervisor recommends promotion; (5) Incumbent completes all required training; and, (6) Incumbent completes all Series GS-2210 qualification requirements and regulatory requirements for career ladder promotions. 1. This is a developmental position. The next full performance target level(FPL) for this career ladder assignment is Information Technology Specialist(SYSADMIN) Specialist, GS-2210-11, PD D2489000. The incumbent performs GS-2210-09 duties under closer than normal supervision. Must complete at least 12 months of specialized work experiences at this grade to successfully achieve the GS-2210-11 competency. The GS-2210-09 position task assignments become progressively more difficult until the target level GS-2210-11 is reached. 2. Performs the basic duties and has the basic responsibilities as described in the GS-2210-11 position description; however, detailed assistance, guidance, and support from the supervisors and co-workers are provided, as required, until statutory and performance requirements for advancement to the next higher level are met. 3. Receives formal and/or on-the-job instructions designed to familiarize incumbent with the functions and operations of the program area and work responsibility. Incumbent is provided practical experience in the application of related knowledge and applies professional and/or management theory, principles, and practices to complete the assigned work. GS 11 This position is located in a National Guard JFHQ-State organization under the office of the Chief Information Officer(CIO/G6/J6). This is a National Guard Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership. The purpose of the position is to serve as a systems administrator on one or more of the systems maintained/administered throughout the state. The incumbent is responsible for installing and testing the system security configuration and monitoring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining server hardware and software. Manages all assigned servers and server resources, analyzing and defining requirements; analyzing workload; monitoring capacity and performance; diagnosing and resolving problems; and developing backup and recovery procedures. Installs, configures, and maintains servers and server resources in support of business processing requirements and ensures that servers are tested for stability. Installs and upgrades operating systems and layered software packages, ensuring compatibility with Army standards prior to installation of upgrade or new release. Resolves inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies. Provides technical assistance to current and potential users to minimize disruptions of computer operations. Provides formal or informal training so users understand the relationships of the system and are able to work with the system without undue interruption. Tests and analyzes system malfunctions to resolve physical and logical processing problems. Analyzes, evaluates, and resolves malfunctions by adjusting equipment configurations, realigning port allocations, recommending appropriate acquisitions, and distinguishing between equipment, software, and operation problems. Maintains liaison with counterparts at other commands/installations for troubleshooting assistance and researching available products and state-of-the-art technologies and advancements. Develops strategies to incorporate into the organization's inventory such technologies and advancements found to be compatible with user requirements, taking into consideration any affect these technologies and techniques will have on existing architecture and infrastructure.
