The Opportunity

The Business Development Manager position will play a pivotal role in driving our clients commercial growth. This role leads client engagement, identifying new opportunities across target sectors, and builds strategic partnerships. Working closely with the internal project development team, the Business Development Manager shapes bespoke solutions that align with client needs, market demand, and regulatory or ESG requirements.

The Tasks Ahead
  • Lead business development activities across APC's core sectors (government, mining/resources, agriculture, finance, renewables, Aboriginal Corporations, and philanthropic organisations)
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new commercial and funding opportunities, including tenders, grants, and joint ventures
  • Build and manage relationships such as corporate, industry, government seeking high-integrity nature-based solutions
  • Work closely with the internal project development team to design and shape bespoke products and services
  • Develop compelling proposals and support the preparation of investment concepts, bids, and consultancy offers
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant market dynamics (carbon, biodiversity, ESG, offsets, bonds, etc.) and ensure APC is positioned to respond
  • Support brand positioning, capability development, and strategic messaging to target audiences
  • Contribute to reporting, pipeline forecasting, and commercial planning alongside the CEO

Your ability to work both independently and as part of a team sets you apart a thisis a hands-on, outward-facing position that requires a blend of strategic insight, commercial acumen, sector experience, and client-focused delivery.

Key Requirements
  • Proven experience in business development or client management within consulting, environmental markets, infrastructure, financial/banking markets, natural resource management, or related sectors
  • Strong track record in securing and managing commercial contracts, tenders, and partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to translate client needs into technical project opportunities
  • Knowledge of ESG frameworks, carbon/biodiversity markets, or sustainable development fields
