Job Description

Overview

Wyong Christian Community School (WCCS) is a thriving Christian school located on 28 acres of semi-rural land. For over 32 years, we have been committed to providing quality Christian education, nurturing our students' God-given potential, and building strong community relationships.

The IT Systems Administrator is a dual-focus role that combines high-level technical expertise with a deep commitment to the school's Christian mission and ethos. You will be responsible for the stability, security, and strategic evolution of the digital environment, ensuring that technology serves as a seamless enabler for teaching and learning.

This hands-on position requires maintaining on-premises infrastructure-including servers, WiFi, and network switches-while ensuring uptime for core services during school hours. Beyond backend management, you will manage Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms, enforce strict safeguarding and web-filtering protocols, and provide empathetic, high-standard user support to staff and students.

As a proactive leader and Christian role model, you will also lead staff devotions and ensure all technical decisions align with the school's vision and values.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain on-premises infrastructure including servers, WiFi, and network switches to ensure uptime for core services during school hours.
  • Manage Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms and enforce safeguarding and web-filtering protocols.
  • Provide empathetic, high-standard user support to staff and students.
  • Lead staff devotions and align technical decisions with the school's vision and values.
Selection Criteria

Essentials

  • Active Christian faith and regular attendance at a Christian Church.
  • Commitment to the Vision, Mission and Values of WCCS, including the Statement of Faith.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot infrastructure failures, including network, internet, and server infrastructure.
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple urgent requests.
  • Willingness to learn from others and share knowledge.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (VLANs, Routing, Firewall management, and Wireless Access Points).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to work in a team and independently.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP) and Virtualization (Hyper-V or VMware).

Desirables

  • ITIL Foundation Certification and understanding of service management.
  • Industry Certifications: Microsoft (AZ-800/801), Cisco (CCNA), or CompTIA Network+/Security+.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Shell scripts.
  • Experience with API integrations.
  • 3-5 years experience in a Systems Administrator or Senior Desktop Support role.
  • Experience using MDM tools (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Jamf, or Google Admin) to manage a diverse fleet of devices.
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint) or Google Workspace for Education.
