Quick Overview
Job Description
About Allocate
Allocate is building the operating system for private markets — wealth advisors and their clients use the platform to access, transact in, and manage private market investments. The platform supports 350+ advisory firms and 1,500+ GP relationships, with $ 5B+ in assets on the platform.
About The Role
Atlas Fund Services, LLC is the fund administration business unit of Allocate. Our team runs the operations behind the private market funds and feeder vehicles that advisors and their clients access through the Allocate platform — fund accounting, capital calls and distributions, investor allocations, financial statements, and audit support.
As a Fund Accountant, you will own the day-to-day operations of a portfolio of funds end to end. You will work directly with the banking, legal, audit, and tax partners who support those funds, and closely enough with our product and engineering teams to shape the software that runs the work. The ideal candidate has spent time at a fund administrator, a venture capital or private equity fund, or in another finance-oriented professional services role, and is already familiar with fund accounting concepts in private markets and the reporting requirements that come with them.
This is a role for someone who wants to deepen that expertise while helping replace manual process with better systems, and who takes real satisfaction in giving investors and fund sponsors a clean, timely, well-explained answer every time.
What You’ll Own
Own day-to-day fund operations across financial accounting, capital calls and distributions, investor and financial reporting, and cash management.
Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements, capital account statements, and investor-level allocations.
Interpret fund legal documents — limited partnership agreements, subscription documents, and side letters — and apply their economic terms to allocations, waterfalls, and fee calculations.
Partner with external service providers across banking, legal, audit, and tax to create a seamless experience for investors and fund sponsors.
Work actively with the software development team to scope, test, and implement automation and other efficiency improvements across fund workflows.
Support other Allocate teams on processes related to fundraising, diligence, and investor relations.
Lead special projects and initiatives where your interests and Allocate’s strategic priorities align.
Follow and contribute to the ongoing improvement of compliance policies and process documentation.
What Success Looks Like
Capital calls, distributions, and investor statements go out on schedule and without rework.
Quarterly and annual reporting cycles close on deadline, and fund audits complete with no material adjustments or significant deficiencies.
Investor and advisor inquiries are resolved quickly and completely, with a steady decline in repeat questions.
At least one recurring manual workflow per quarter is automated or meaningfully streamlined in partnership with product and engineering.
Within two quarters, you are the trusted owner of a defined set of funds and the internal go-to for how they work.
Who You Are
2–3+ years of experience within fund administration, private markets (venture capital or private equity), fintech, or another finance-oriented professional services capacity, with proven operations and project management skills.
Familiarity with fund accounting and administration concepts in private markets and the applicable reporting requirements.
Experience working within a regulated and supervised industry.
Robust analytical skills across quantitative and qualitative metrics.
Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
Ability and willingness to lead and manage complex initiatives and tasks.
Dedication to Allocate’s mission.
Nice to Have
CPA or CFA, or meaningful progress toward either.
Public accounting experience in an alternative investments or financial services practice.
Hands-on experience with a fund accounting platform, or with migrating from one platform to another.
Comfort using SQL, advanced Excel, or AI-assisted tools to speed up recurring analysis and reporting.
Essential Values & Culture
Providing our clients with a world-class experience is our number one priority. We obsessively search for ways to improve the experience for our clients and partners. This requires extraordinary response times, proactivity, and ensuring that everything we do — from product strategy to offline communications — reflects a top-tier client experience.
Challenge convention: Instead of detailing all the reasons why an idea may not work, we constantly question things to determine how a viable idea may be put into motion.
Commitment to continuous improvement: We find ways to personally scale each day by pushing ourselves up the learning curve.
Meritocracy, not politics: We place the utmost value on results and rewards through merit, not reward actions driven by political agendas or behavior.
Civil Discourse is embraced: We believe open, intellectually curious conversations are required to consistently arrive at the best decisions. Respect is paramount in our dealings with one another, but our mission is always to get the right answer collectively, not to be right.
Embrace technological change: We adopt tools and techniques that make us faster, smarter, and better. We stay open to innovation, especially around AI and automation, and drop outdated methods without hesitation. This includes actively integrating AI-assisted tools into your daily workflow and staying current as the landscape evolves. Complacency kills progress — we value adaptability and curiosity.
