Embedded Software Engineer
Location: San Diego, California (On-site)
Role Overview
An established organization is seeking a qualified software engineer to join the technical department in San Diego. This position focuses on the design, architecture, development, and administration of embedded and real-time systems. The selected candidate will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in an Agile software development environment to analyze system capabilities and resolve issues related to program intent and input data acquisition.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test software for secure systems.
• Architect and administer embedded real-time systems.
• Collaborate with systems, digital, and hardware engineering teams within Agile workflows.
• Analyze system capabilities to resolve technical software challenges.
• Troubleshoot and debug software applications using lab equipment and analysis tools.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related STEM discipline.
Experience: Minimum of five years of related experience, or a Master's degree with three years of experience, or a PhD with one year of experience.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in C/C++ and Object-Oriented programming is required. Candidates must have experience with the formal software lifecycle process, low-level firmware integration, and multi-threaded embedded applications. Familiarity with static analysis, unit testing, and Agile tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, and Git is necessary. Experience testing waveforms in embedded software environments and using laboratory equipment is required.
Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with specialized operating systems and platform architectures such as Xilinx (Zynq, Ultrascale+, and VERSAL).
• Familiarity with communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and Ethernet.
• Experience with TCP/IP network configurations and implementing cryptographic libraries.
• Familiarity with Rust, assembly language, and bare-metal device drivers.
• Experience with model-based design and configuration management tools.
