Data Engineer
Seeking experienced Data Engineers to support a growing data transformation and cloud modernisation programme.
This role is suited to strong developers and delivery-focused engineers rather than technical leads. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, collaborating with business and technology stakeholders, and delivering high-quality solutions with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
•
Design, build and optimise scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines.
•
Develop and maintain solutions using Databricks, Python and SQL.
•
Support migration of data assets from legacy platforms into modern cloud-based architectures.
•
Integrate data from multiple enterprise systems, including Oracle databases.
•
Develop reusable data engineering frameworks and best practices.
•
Ensure data quality, integrity, security and performance standards are met.
•
Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable fixes.
•
Collaborate with architects, data analysts, business stakeholders and delivery teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
•
Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
Essential Skills & Experience
•
Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer within large enterprise environments.
•
Hands-on expertise with Databricks.
•
Advanced SQL development skills.
•
Strong Python development experience.
•
Extensive experience working with Oracle databases.
•
Proven experience building and supporting data pipelines and data integration solutions.
•
Experience working within cloud-based data platforms.
•
Strong understanding of data modelling, performance optimisation and data quality controls.
•
Experience working across the full software development lifecycle.
•
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
•
Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills.
Desirable Experience
•
Banking or Financial Services experience.
•
Experience working within regulated environments.
•
Exposure to Azure Data Platform services.
•
Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices for data engineering.
•
Experience supporting cloud migration or modernisation programmes.
•
Familiarity with data governance and data lineage principles.
Preferred Background
The ideal candidate will have

5+ years of Data Engineering experience.
•
Strong development capability rather than architecture or management focus.
•
Experience delivering data solutions within complex enterprise organisations.

Ability to quickly understand business requirements and convert them into robust technical solutions.
