What you will do:

The Billing Specialist provides customer service and is responsible for all billing aspects associated with Pediatrics Plus insurance billing including Medicaid billing, insurance billing, private pay billing, and insurance accounts receivable.

  • Processes and bills insurance claims. 
  • Handles medical record requests from insurance companies. 
  • Reconciles payments received to payments posted in system. 
  • Provide excellent customer service over the phone to families and team members. 
  • Explains insurance billing scenarios to families and team members.
  • Problem solves any inconsistencies with insurance billing.  
  • Works well in a team environment.  
  • Processes and reconciles insurance paper checks weekly. 
  • Calls insurance companies to obtain/maintain pre-certification for patient therapies. 
  • Enters and updates data within deTASO. 
  • Participates in one-on-one meetings with leader. 
  • Responds positively to feedback concerning job performance.  
  • Communicates any needs or concerns with leadership.  
  • Maintains confidentiality and patient privacy to HIPAA standards. 
  • Upholds and incorporates the core values, mission, and philosophy of Pediatrics Plus into all job responsibilities.  
  • Displays an understanding of the leadership style of Pediatrics Plus.  
  • May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned.

Education/ Certification:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred. 
  • 2+ years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a healthcare or medical office setting, required. 

Skills/ Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people. 
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Computer skills which include a working knowledge of keyboarding, database, word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software.  
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and other company documents. 
  • Ability to author routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of families or team members of the company. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Reports for work dressed appropriately and complies with company policies regarding the dress code. 
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. 
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner. 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to accurately communicate information and ideas so others will understand through sight and hearing. The team member is regularly required to move including walking, running, jumping, and sitting. The team member is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, lift, reach, and feel. The team member is frequently required to stand and stoop, twist, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. If the team member is working at a Farm location, they must be comfortable around standard farm animals, including minimal allergies to touching, smelling, feeding, and engaging with animals.
