Job description

Physikit develops and operates at-home testing programmes as a B2B white-label solution. We work with partner laboratories to develop and implement analytical methods, alongside the services needed to make home testing work: sample collection, test kits, logistics, IT and secure result reporting. Our clients include healthcare providers and pharmaceutical companies.

Our mission is to improve and simplify access to diagnostics from the comfort of patients’ homes. 🧩

We’re looking for an experienced laboratory professional to develop, optimise and implement ELISA methods at our laboratory location in Munich. You will take ownership of practical development work, troubleshoot assays and turn experimental results into reliable, documented laboratory workflows.

Method Development & Implementation

  • Independently plan and carry out ELISA method-development experiments, organise your day-to-day laboratory work and propose next steps based on your results.
  • Establish and compare commercial ELISA kits, adapt sample preparation and assay conditions, and document their suitability for the intended application.
  • Develop and optimise workflows for small-volume blood samples, including dried blood samples.
  • Troubleshoot assay performance and instrumentation, investigate variability and matrix effects, and document practical solutions.
  • Plan and perform method verification and validation experiments, including precision, reproducibility, recovery and method comparisons, and assess results against agreed acceptance criteria.
  • Operate and check ELISA and liquid-handling equipment, maintain reliable manual and automated workflows, and identify opportunities for further automation.

Documentation & Transfer to Routine

  • Analyse experimental data, draw clear conclusions and propose the next development steps.
  • Maintain traceable records of samples, reagents, experimental changes and results; investigate and document deviations and prepare SOPs, validation plans and reports.
  • Work with our scientific team, laboratory partners and kit manufacturers to resolve technical questions and move projects forward.
  • Support the transfer of established methods into routine laboratory workflows, including documentation, quality controls and training.
  • You have completed vocational training in a laboratory discipline, such as BTA, CTA or MTL/MTLA, or hold a relevant qualification or degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or a related field.
  • You bring practical experience independently establishing, optimising and validating ELISA methods and can explain the development work you personally carried out.
  • You have practical experience with automated pipetting systems. You work accurately and reproducibly.
  • You can independently organise experiments, interpret assay data and calibration curves, assess controls and work through technical problems.
  • You follow established laboratory best practices for sample handling and contamination prevention, document your work clearly and follow through on agreed priorities.
  • You communicate well and enjoy collaborating with scientific colleagues and laboratory teams.
  • You can work confidently in English. German language skills are a plus.

Additional experience we would value:

  • Development or implementation of laboratory-developed tests (LDTs).
  • Transferring manual assays to automated workflows, including method setup, performance comparison and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with laboratory platforms from Tecan, Promega, Euroimmun or comparable suppliers.
  • Work with dried blood, microsampling or the transfer of assays to new sample matrices.

What We Offer

  • A permanent, full-time position in Munich, starting as soon as possible.
  • A hands-on role with responsibility for method development and implementation.
  • The opportunity to see your work progress from initial experiments to practical use in a partner laboratory.
  • Direct collaboration with our scientific team and laboratory partners.
  • Room to contribute your own ideas, improve workflows and help build our ELISA capabilities.
  • A collaborative working environment with short communication paths.

Physikit is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and value diversity within our team.

Interested?

We look forward to receiving your CV and a short introduction describing the ELISA methods you have established, optimised or validated, your personal contribution and the laboratory platforms you have used.
