Job Description

Overview

Patchstack protects WordPress sites for hosts, agencies and developers, and we're now launching a security product for people building JavaScript apps with AI tools like Claude Code. That product is early. We have good signals from hosts and hackathons, but we haven't yet found who it serves best, what they value, or why they'll keep paying for it.

You'll be the product manager who finds that out. You'll talk to customers, use the product in real AI-assisted workflows, test ideas quickly with our designer and engineers, and build the measurement that tells us what's working. You'll work alongside two small engineering squads, a senior product designer, QA and infrastructure. You own which customer problems we invest in and how we learn from the results.

About you

You're happiest early, before the answers exist. You'd rather run a small test this week than wait for perfect data. You're comfortable in a terminal and have built things with AI-assisted tools, so you can use our product the way our customers do. You form your own view on technical claims rather than taking "it's not feasible" or "the metric improved" at face value. You say what you think, including when it's awkward, and you change your mind when the evidence says so. You work well in a flat team with little process, and you help people around you get better rather than taking work off them.

Responsibilities

  • Run customer discovery for the JavaScript product: interviews, observed usage, support and event feedback, and your own hands-on use.
  • With Growth and Product Marketing, recommend which customers and problems to focus on, backed by evidence of who uses, who pays and why.
  • Shape what we build with the Senior Product Designer from early discovery through testing. You own the problem and intended outcome; they own the design response.
  • Agree outcomes and priorities with the engineering squads and help them turn validated problems into work. Squads own delivery.
  • Build and ship small prototypes, experiments and product changes yourself where that's the fastest way to learn, within our review and QA process.
  • Own product measurement in PostHog: define the actions that matter, get tracking in place, and combine the numbers with customer evidence to explain what's working.
  • Keep what we've learned, decided and assumed visible in Notion so the team can make good investment calls.
  • Raise risks, gaps and decisions early, and escalate anything beyond your remit.
  • Experience as a product manager on a technical or developer-facing product, ideally pre or early product-market fit.
  • Examples of changing or stopping a product direction based on customer and technical evidence you gathered yourself.
  • Hands-on with AI-assisted development, the command line, packages and dependencies. You don't need to be a production engineer, but you need to be at home in that environment.
  • Strong customer research and data analysis skills, including building useful measurement from little reliable data.
  • Clear, direct communication with designers, engineers and leadership in a remote, low-process team.
  • €75–100k salary, depending on location and experience, plus company stock options
  • 4.5-day working week (half-day Fridays)
  • Remote-first, with reasonable overlap with EU timezones
  • 38 days' paid time off a year (including public holidays) plus 3 health days
  • Company laptop, and co-working membership or home-office equipment
  • AI tooling budget
  • Quarterly health and wellness allowance
  • Travel for conferences, events and our annual company meetup
