Oberarzt Gastroenterologie | Hohenwestedt, Germany | On-site

We are seeking a dedicated Gastroenterology specialist for a leading German hospital that is a central provider of specialized care in Schleswig-Holstein. This institution is part of a nationwide network known for its innovation and excellence in advanced medical treatment, serving thousands of patients annually across numerous specialties.

The Role

  • Provide comprehensive medical care for both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology and internal medicine patients.
  • Independently perform and supervise diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy, and assist with ERCP and endosonography.
  • Share responsibility for ward management, including patient rounds, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Supervise junior physicians and actively contribute to the education and training of medical staff.
  • Collaborate closely with other internal medicine sections, as well as surgical, radiological, and other departments.
  • Participate in the strategic development of medical concepts, clinical pathways, and quality standards, including on-call duties.

What You'll Need

  • Board certification in Internal Medicine; a specialization in Gastroenterology is highly desirable but not mandatory.
  • Proficient experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, with foundational knowledge or a willingness to train in endosonography and ERCP.
  • Experience with clinical information systems (KIS) for documentation, patient management, and coding.
  • Ability to work independently, responsibly, and with strong decision-making and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent teamwork, cooperation, and communication skills within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Interest in developing medical processes, quality assurance, and a passion for medical education.
