Job Description

Scientific Software Engineer
Salary:Competitive
Job Type: Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Scientific Software Engineer to join an innovative technology team developing advanced software, simulation tools and compiler technologies.

Youll work alongside software engineers, scientists and hardware specialists, developing software that connects high-level programming languages with advanced hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain compiler infrastructure and SSA-based intermediate representations.
  • Design and develop programming languages and software tools.
  • Integrate simulation tools into software and cloud platforms.
  • Work closely with scientists and engineers to develop technical solutions.
  • Test, debug, optimise and maintain high-quality software.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
About You
  • PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience, ideally in compilers, programming languages or computer architecture.
  • Strong Python experience.
  • Experience with a compiled language such as C++, Rust, Julia, Haskell or OCaml.
  • Experience with compiler development and SSA.
  • Understanding of modern software development, including Git, testing, CI/CD and debugging.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Desirable
  • LLVM or MLIR experience.
  • Programming language design.
  • Compiler optimisation.
  • Scientific simulation or high-performance computing.
  • Open-source development experience.
