QA Back-End Tester (Linux/Unix) As a Back-End Tester (Linux/Unix) reporting to Sr. Manager - Quality Assurance, you'll play a critical role in safeguarding the quality and reliability of Nasdaq's Trade Surveillance platform - a globally deployed compliance solution trusted by marketplaces, regulators, and market participants worldwide. You'll thrive in this position if you're analytical, detail-oriented, and outcome-focused, with a passion for technology and a drive to deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and execute end-to-end test strategies that ensure software meets defined quality standards and client requirements.
- Analyze system requirements and business processes to identify testing scope, risks, and mitigation approaches.
- Drive defect resolution by performing root cause analysis, raising issues, and tracking them through to completion.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing frameworks, documentation, and release engineering processes.
- Collaborate with global teams to support integration, regression, and system testing across product releases.
- 6-8 years of experience in server-side or back-end software testing, with strong proficiency in Unix/Linux command-line environments.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute complex test strategies independently, from environment setup through to completion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, methodical approach.
- Clear communicator with the ability to present testing strategies and challenge ambiguous requirements confidently.
- Experience working with defect tracking and automation tools in an agile or continuous delivery environment.
- Experience testing applications hosted in cloud environments.
- Background in compliance, surveillance, or regulated financial services.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
This position will be located in Sydney, Australia and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 2 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
This is a permanent, full-time role so candidates should have full working rights in Australia. To be eligible to apply, you must have Australian citizenship or permanent residency status.
