Mid-Level Developer

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Mid-Level Developer for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Regulatory clients in the DMV area.

This role is part of a technical team building the next generation of document services that leverage OCR and Large Language Model (LLM) technologies to provide document transformation capabilities across the enterprise.

Responsibilities :

• Design and develop scalable backend services that power intelligent document ingestion, extraction, and transformation workflows
• contribute to building systems where autonomous agents coordinate multi-step document processing pipelines - from raw document intake through structured data extraction and downstream delivery.
• Works under general supervision and will develop, test, debug, and document software components as part of a collaborative software engineering effort.
• This role focuses on backend development using Java and Python to deliver reliable, scalable services that integrate traditional software engineering with modern AI/ML capabilities.
• Review and analyze process, system, and/or data requirements and specifications.
• Design and implement backend components for one or more areas (subsystems) of a project, product, or program.
• Build, test, deploy, and document software components for project and program-level solutions.
• Participate in the creation of software engineering strategies that help identify and mitigate risks.
• Participate in peer review of code, requirements, specifications, and software.
• Document and communicate development status in a timely manner including metric reporting.
• Collaborate in the resolution of defects.
• Contribute to internal process improvement initiatives and provide feedback on processes.
• Assist with adherence to technology policies and comply with all security controls.
• Ensure all work products meet or exceed organizational standards.
• Demonstrate organizational values through collaboration, both in-person and virtually, in furtherance of the organization's mission.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team to deliver high-quality enterprise software
• Experience supporting applications in areas such as text analytics, enterprise search, enterprise profiles, and enterprise alerts
• Participation in production releases
• Active involvement in Scrum activities including story refinement, sprint retrospectives, daily standups, and code reviews

Required Skills :

• Must bring a minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience and be conversant with Model Context Protocol (MCP), agentic tools, and AI-driven orchestration patterns.
• RESTful API design and development
• AWS
• Core services: EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ECS, API Gateway
• QuickSight for dashboards and data visualization
• CloudWatch, CloudTrail, X-Ray for monitoring and troubleshooting
• IAM, Security services, VPC networking
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation)
• Programming & Development
• Java/Groovy, Spring Boot,
• Python, FastAPI
• Frontend. Either of Node.js, Angular, React, Vue.js
• Writing unit and integration tests
• RESTful API design and microservices architecture
• CI/CD pipelines (GitLab exposure preferred)
• Databases/SQL AWS Postgres

Agentic AI & MCP Experience

• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) for connecting AI models to external tools, data sources, and services in a standardized way
• Experience building or integrating tool-use frameworks that allow agents to invoke APIs, query databases, read/write files, and orchestrate downstream services
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, context management, and token optimization for production LLM workloads

Preferred Skills :

• Experience with OCR technologies (e.g., AWS Textract, Tesseract, etc)
• Experience with LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Bedrock Agents
• Familiarity with vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns
• Experience with message queues or event-driven architectures
• Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with NoSQL databases
• AWS certification
