Senior React Native Architect / Lead Mobile Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Senior React Native Architect / Lead Mobile Engineer to lead mobile architecture improvements and deliver high-quality React Native features. This role will focus on optimizing the existing application, establishing sustainable engineering standards, evaluating new libraries, and future-proofing the mobile platform for the next 5–10 years. The ideal candidate combines strong architectural expertise with hands-on coding skills and a forward-looking approach to mobile development, including a potential transition to Expo.

Key Responsibilities

• Mobile Architecture: Evaluate and improve application structure, component patterns, code quality, maintainability, and performance. Establish standards and architectural best practices.
• React Native Development: Design, develop, debug, and deliver high-quality production features. Contribute directly to sprint work and resolve high-priority technical issues as needed.
• Technology Evaluation: Research and assess React Native libraries, frameworks, and industry updates to identify opportunities for optimization and modernization.
• Expo Strategy: Help evaluate and prepare for a potential transition to Expo within the next 1–2 years.
• Third-Party Integrations: Evaluate and implement SDKs, libraries, and external services, addressing compatibility and native integration challenges.
• Security and Quality: Establish mobile security standards in partnership with an external security vendor and support testing, troubleshooting, and application stability.
• Technical Leadership: Collaborate with mobile developers, product management, QA, security partners, and backend, web, and engineering architecture teams.
• Continuous Improvement: Reduce technical debt, improve engineering processes, and promote sustainable development practices.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with React Native and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development.
• Strong experience in mobile application architecture, design patterns, and development best practices.
• Experience evaluating and integrating React Native libraries, third-party SDKs, and external services.
• Familiarity with Expo and mobile platform modernization strategies.
• Proven ability to optimize existing codebases, improve application quality, and deliver production-ready features.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience balancing architectural design and technical strategy with hands-on development.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
• A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, maintainability, and emerging mobile technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with native mobile development or native integrations.
• Familiarity with Swift, Kotlin, and AWS.
• Experience with mobile security frameworks and external security partners.
• Experience leading mobile architecture modernization or framework migrations.
