Senior M365 Collaboration Engineer
Location:  100% REMOTE
Duration: Long Term
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior M365 Collaboration Engineer to support enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 tenant consolidation and collaboration platform migrations. This role is primarily focused on hands-on engineering, migration execution, coexistence configuration, and automation activities across Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with cross-tenant migration tools, PowerShell automation, and Microsoft 365 administration in large enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and analyze Microsoft 365 collaboration environments, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, mail routing, and tenant configurations.
  • Support the planning and execution of migration waves for email, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive content.
  • Configure and maintain coexistence solutions between source and target tenants, including:
    • Azure AD B2B
    • Cross-Tenant Synchronization
    • Free/Busy Sharing
    • Teams Federation
  • Execute mailbox, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive migrations using Quest On Demand Migration and related migration platforms.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell and Microsoft Graph automation scripts to streamline migration and operational processes.
  • Validate mail flow, directory synchronization, permissions, and collaboration services before and after migration activities.
  • Troubleshoot migration issues, mail routing problems, and collaboration platform incidents.
  • Support cutover planning, migration testing, user readiness activities, and post-migration stabilization.
  • Assist in implementing and validating Microsoft Purview policies, including retention, compliance, and data governance requirements.
  • Analyze dependencies involving shared mailboxes, business applications, identity systems, and network services that may impact migration activities.
  • Collaborate with architects, project managers, security teams, and business stakeholders throughout migration projects.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience supporting and administering Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Exchange Online and Exchange Hybrid environments
    • Microsoft Teams Administration
    • SharePoint Online
    • OneDrive for Business
  • Experience executing cross-tenant Microsoft 365 migrations in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on expertise with Quest On Demand Migration (ODM).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview compliance and governance solutions.
  • Deep understanding of Exchange mail routing, DNS, and coexistence configurations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within large-scale Microsoft 365 environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Teams Voice/Telephony migrations.
  • Experience with migration tools such as ShareGate, BitTitan, or AvePoint.
  • Microsoft certifications such as:
    • MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator
    • Messaging Administrator Associate
    • Enterprise Administrator Expert (preferred)
  • Experience working in merger, acquisition, or tenant consolidation projects.
