Trident Consulting is seeking a " Senior Cost Accountant for one of our clients in " Aliso Viejo, CA A global leader in business and technology services.
Title: Senior Cost Accountant
Location : Aliso Viejo, CA- Onsite
Pay range (max)- $49/h on w2
Duration : 12+ months with Extension
Description
Assist with a variety of accounting tasks, with special focus in the areas of inventory cost and transaction accounting and International subsidiary accounting.
This position will perform a variety of Accounting tasks such as researching and analyzing accounts, preparing Journal Entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
The candidate will also be involved in audits, process improvements and special projects.
Requirements
- Responsible for inventory and COGS area of the monthly close cycle for US operations, including journal preparation and account reconciliations.
- Assist with month end close processes in Expandable, including the recording of labor absorption on completed job orders.
- Coordinate and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process of international subsidiaries, including the preparation of reclassification and accrual transactions necessary for accurate financial statements
- Responsible for preparation of Warranty and Inventory reserves.
- Responsible for preparation a variety of cost of sales reclassification journal entries
- Assist in development of material, labor and overhead standard costs
- Research and analyze standard costs variances and gross margins
- Assist with annual Physical inventory counts and adjustments in the ERP system
- Assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements and departmental expense reporting files.
- Assist with other projects and activities as directed.
- Serve as the business unit subject matter expert for general accounting processes, complex accounting solutions, and provide training and guidance to junior staff where needed
- Contribute to year-end filings, audit, and tax preparation by providing requested documentation and analysis
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing insights and analysis of financial performance to support decision-making focused on gross margin relevant to the department.
Experience
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in Accounting field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of general accounting including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficient advanced Excel skills (Vlookup s, pivot tables, etc) to manage large volumes of data
- Understanding of Inventory related financial transactions and reporting
- Knowledge of Expandable Accounting or similar ERP software
- Experience in company external financial audits
- Ability to safeguard confidential information
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to work within firm deadlines
- Ability to pay strict attention to detail, with a commitment to deliver quality and accurate work products on a timely basis
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance CPA and/or MBA preferred
