Role Overview
As a Senior Consultant, you will take ownership of delivering complex projects and programmes for leading Private Equity and Private Markets clients, using your subject-matter expertise to guide project teams and ensure high-quality outcomes.
You will lead client interactions, support specialist engagements such as vendor selections and operational reviews, and work closely with senior stakeholders. You will also coach and develop junior team members, manage project workstreams and balance hands-on analysis with strategic consulting responsibilities.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to clients while contributing to the continued development and growth of the wider consulting practice.
Primary Responsibilities
- Take ownership of complex consulting projects and workstreams, applying subject-matter expertise across a range of engagements.
- Lead multiple consulting engagements simultaneously and take on increasing levels of responsibility within projects.
- Confidently manage external client meetings, including Steering Committees and regular project status meetings.
- Build leadership capability by mentoring, coaching and developing junior team members.
- Support individual progression through performance management and development activities.
- Provide subject-matter expertise across consulting engagements, with knowledge of Private Equity industry systems and processes beneficial.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, best practice and professional development initiatives.
- Support business development activities, including proposals, pitch materials and client engagement opportunities.
- Contribute to commercial discussions, including rate negotiations and project extensions.
- Operate within agreed project budgets, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and maintaining accurate time and financial records.
- 5+ years' experience in consulting, Private Equity, financial services or a related field.
- Experience delivering complex projects or programmes within a consulting or change environment.
- Experience working with Private Equity clients or within financial services operations is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to deliver complex projects to agreed scope, timelines and budget.
- Experience with process mapping, business systems, operating model reviews or similar consulting activities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience independently managing project workstreams.
- Experience leading smaller project teams and coordinating resources to achieve project objectives.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Confidence leading client meetings, including Steering Committees and project status updates.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and manage senior stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong business analysis skills and the ability to translate business requirements into practical solutions.
- Commercial awareness and a strong understanding of client needs.
- Experience working with Agile and/or Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Understanding of project delivery frameworks and structured consulting approaches.
- Ability to mentor and coach junior consultants.
- Demonstrated interest in developing others and supporting their career progression.
- Willingness to take on increasing leadership responsibility.
- Understanding of business systems, processes and operating models.
- Exposure to Private Equity or Private Markets systems and processes would be advantageous.
- Strong ability to analyse data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
