Primary Function of the Position

The Material Handler 2 is an intermediate position requiring experience in warehousing operations, exceptional technical skills (equipment operation, counting, space utilization, handling efficiency), and in-depth knowledge of inventory management systems and Intuitive application systems. The job entails becoming a SME in all warehouse processes and being able to take on special projects, suggest CIPs to increase productivity and efficiency as well as coordinating with cross-functional teams.  

Essential Job Duties

This position will fulfill the following roles (If applicable to site):

  • Shipping: Verifies, checks, validates, and receives the shipments incoming and outgoing material to make sure, labels, packing slips, BOL’s other shipping documents and serial cans are done, attached and processed according to work instructions
  • Receiving: Receiving materials, physically and systemically, to be used in production operations and engineering projects.
  • Parts Put-away: Physically and systemically moving approved Production materials from IQC staging areas into market storage locations. (Totes and Bulk)
  • Storage Market (SMKT, KMKT, MMKT, SVKT, etc.):
    • Point-of-use parts replenishment, for designated production lines.
    • Parts Replenishment: Point-of-use parts replenishment for designated production lines. Follow First in First Out (FIFO) when putting away, picking and replenishment material.
    • MT: Fulfilling and transacting MT requests received either electronically or via hard copy.
    • Sales Order Fulfillment: Fulfilling and transacting Sales Orders
    • STO: Process approved Stock Transfer Orders
    • VLM: Process Vertical Lift Module orders
  • Toolkits: Utilize Production order process to assemble toolkits.
  • SPP Kitting: Production parts replenishment via SPP kitting process.
  • Route Running: Kanban fulfillment and Bin to Bin transactions.
  • Cross Dock: Capable of performing cross dock function.
  • Inventory Control: Understand full flow of the material within stockroom locations. Participate in Cycle Count, Physical Inventories, and reconciliation activities in coordination with Inventory analyst, conduct material audits and parts verification and evaluate bin capacity and consolidations to increase storage capacity. Maintain various SOX compliance audit records and suggest CIPs to improve warehouse efficiency.
  • Capable of transitioning to all the different regional warehousing business units and performing all duties located within that business unit.
  • Able to define and speak regarding how and why a process is completed in multiple work processes.
  • Ensure the business unit is always audit ready.
  • Responsible for assisting Material Handler 1 & 2, as needed to drive productivity and accuracy.
  • Responsible for complying with general Good Warehouse Practices (GWP) and Warehouse housekeeping processes.
  • Proficient at performing systemic transactions in both SAP and ISI’s applications.
  • Be trained and certified to operate advanced material handling equipment. (Stand-up and order picking lift trucks, and/or electric pallet jack, etc).
  • At the direction of the Supervisor, train new personnel or cross-train existing personnel, including all required documentation, record keeping and reporting. Capable of being certified as a deputized trainer.
  • Assist in data collection in combination with warehousing team for KPI’s.
  • Perform cycle counts and other Warehouse activities as needed. Previous working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing 5s, and Kanban processes a plus.
  • Maintain warehouse safety and housekeeping in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Achieve all warehouse-related tasks certifications.
  • Communicating verbally and via email the status of material movements and transactions to appropriate internal customers.
  • Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement program, including the creation and implementation of small-scale improvements.
  • Able to locate and count parts accurately (using cycle-count documents), execute required WMS data input and accurately complete required documentation.
  • Able to effectively apply knowledge of material flow and warehousing principles to Material Handling assignments (FIFO, consolidation, lean principles).
  • Ability to obtain certification across all core curriculums.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Typically requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years of related experience
  • Ability to adhere to attendance, safety, quality, and performance guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Agile and SAP.
  • Experience with computer systems (MS Office, Agile, WMS) is preferred.
  • Inventory control experience (cycle counting, physical inventories).

Required Education and Training

  • Possess high school degree/ GED /Secondary Education or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Kanban systems and other lean material handling principles.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift material up to 35 lbs.
  • Load & unload trucks as needed via forklift or pallet jacks.
  • Wrap, weigh & prepare shipments on skids/pallets.
  • Extensive walking and repetitive physical motion (squatting, bending, lifting, climbing ladders) is required.

Preferred Skills and Experience  

  • Medical device experience preferred.
  • Must continuously exhibit and showcase CCEE (Character, Capacity, Energy, and Experience)
  • Excellent verbal, written skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Compensation will be based primarily on the job level at which the role is filled and the
candidate’s qualifications, consistent with applicable law.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target compensation ranges are listed.
