Job Description

About the Company

The next generation of independent cardiology is being built here. CardioOne is a physician-led, technology-driven cardiology platform built to empower independent practices to compete, and win, in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. Our mission is to provide cardiologists with the tools, infrastructure, and expertise they need to thrive while maintaining full clinical independence. We believe the best care is delivered by physicians who are empowered - not constrained - by the systems around them. We combine a deep bench of healthcare operators with purpose-built technology and AI-enabled solutions across operations, revenue cycle, imaging, and practice development. From real estate and advanced imaging to clinical workflows and data infrastructure, CardioOne delivers a fully integrated platform designed to drive growth, efficiency, and superior patient outcomes.

Backed by WindRose Health Investors and leading healthcare executives, CardioOne is building one of the most sophisticated and scalable cardiology MSOs in the country - designed to reimagine what is possible for independent cardiology.
About the Role

CardioOne is seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer to implement and support the technology foundation for our cardiology practices. This role works with internal teams, practice leaders, construction and low-voltage vendors, application teams, and remote MSP partners to complete infrastructure deployments from site preparation through go-live and ongoing support. The ideal candidate is an organized, service-oriented technical professional who follows defined standards, communicates clearly, documents work thoroughly, and resolves issues efficiently.

The Systems Engineer will execute the setup, deployment, and operational support of IT infrastructure for new and existing cardiology practices. Beginning during the site-build phase, this role will work from established standards and project plans to coordinate network drops; install and configure network equipment, firewalls, hardware, and endpoints; and establish secure connectivity across on-premises and cloud environments. The engineer will support VPNs, virtual desktops, servers, and application connections; troubleshoot network, endpoint, software installation, and connectivity issues onsite and remotely; collaborate closely with remote managed service providers (MSPs) and other vendors; and help transition each practice to sustainable self-service through clear playbooks, knowledge articles, and user documentation.

What you'll do:

  • Site implementation support: Participate during the site-build stage, confirm network-drop and equipment-room requirements against approved plans, track implementation dependencies, and coordinate onsite work with construction and low-voltage partners.

  • Network deployment: Install, configure, test, and document wired and wireless networks, switches, access points, firewalls, circuits, racks, power protection, and related infrastructure using CardioOne standards.

  • Hardware and endpoint setup: Coordinate approved equipment orders and image, configure, deploy, and maintain workstations, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, and other practice devices.

  • Server and cloud connectivity: Install, configure, test, and support on-premises and cloud-hosted servers and services to enable secure data exchange and reliable application access.

  • Secure access support: Configure and support firewalls, network segmentation, VPNs, virtual desktop environments, identity and access controls, endpoint security, and secure remote access according to approved designs and policies.

  • MSP and vendor coordination: Work effectively with remote managed service providers and technology vendors to open and manage tickets, provide access and diagnostic information, coordinate work across time zones, validate completed changes, escalate unresolved issues, and maintain clear ownership through resolution.

  • Application troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve software installation, connectivity, interface, authentication, and data-transfer issues across clinical, business, and third-party applications.

  • Go-live execution: Complete assigned readiness tasks, test configurations, document issues, coordinate dependencies, and provide onsite technical support during installations and practice launches.

  • Operational support: Provide responsive onsite and remote support for network, endpoint, server, peripheral, and application issues; document troubleshooting steps and escalate complex incidents appropriately.

  • Routine administration: Maintain inventories, configurations, patching, backups, monitoring alerts, access records, and other assigned operational controls.

  • Documentation and self-service: Create and maintain build checklists, troubleshooting guides, knowledge articles, and end-user instructions that support consistent deployments and practice self-service after the initial support period.

What you'll need:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in systems, network, infrastructure, or IT support roles, preferably supporting multiple locations.

  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, wireless networking, network segmentation, and structured troubleshooting.

  • Hands-on experience configuring or supporting firewalls, VPNs, virtual desktop technologies, servers, cloud services, endpoint platforms, and remote-management tools.

  • Experience deploying and supporting Windows-based environments, identity and access solutions, endpoint security, patching, backup, and monitoring tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow technical designs and implementation standards, execute deployment checklists, test completed work, and maintain accurate documentation.

  • Experience collaborating with remote MSPs or outsourced service providers, including ticket management, troubleshooting coordination, escalation, follow-through, and validation of completed work.

  • Strong customer service, troubleshooting, documentation, organization, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage assigned priorities, respond effectively during incidents, and travel to practice locations as needed.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting healthcare delivery organizations, physician practices, ambulatory clinics, or other regulated environments.

  • Familiarity with healthcare applications, medical devices, imaging workflows, secure interfaces, and data exchange between clinical systems.

  • Working knowledge of HIPAA-aligned security practices, risk management, least-privilege access, auditability, and protection of sensitive health information.

  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server, virtualization platforms, and common enterprise networking and security technologies.

  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, Fortinet, CompTIA, VMware, or equivalent.

What Success Looks Like

  • Assigned site-readiness and deployment tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.

  • Installations follow approved standards, checklists, and security requirements.

  • Network, endpoint, and application issues are documented, resolved promptly, or escalated with complete diagnostic information.

  • Remote MSPs and vendors receive clear information, remain accountable for assigned work, and complete changes that are tested and validated.

  • Practice teams have current instructions and clear escalation paths following go-live.

Work Expectations

This role requires a combination of remote engineering and onsite implementation and support. Travel to CardioOne practice locations and occasional work outside standard business hours may be required for site launches, maintenance windows, or critical incidents. Office locations: Naperville, Hinsdale, Elmhurst, Yorkville, Plainfield, and others.

This is a full time position with a salary range of $95,000–$115,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package (12 days paid time off, 8 paid federal holidays) that includes health insurance and a matching 401K.
