About This Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer with 9–12 years of experience to join an early-stage, AI-native fintech/healthtech startup and own critical product initiatives end to end.

You'll work closely with the CTO to shape the Client's revenue operating system, a platform that processes $1B+ in payments annually for senior care operators across 45 states.

This is a high-ownership role where you'll take ambiguous problems, break them down, and ship them to production independently. We need someone who treats data with care, moves fast, takes ownership, and thrives without layers of support.

What You'll Be Doing

• Take product initiatives, break them into executable chunks, and drive them to production independently
• Make architectural and engineering design decisions that shape the platform's backend infrastructure
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and non-technical stakeholders on product ideation and direction
• Build and improve AI-powered automation for payments, claims, and revenue workflows in senior care
• Propose and implement improvements to tooling, engineering practices, and processes as an early member of a small, high-impact engineering team
• Own backend initiatives end to end, from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
• Work closely with the CTO and engineering team to solve complex and ambiguous technical problems

Must-Haves

• 9–12 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on backend development with Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Express.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and relational databases.
• Experience designing scalable backend systems, APIs, and services.
• Strong system design and architectural skills.
• Experience working independently in a startup or fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Payments, fintech, healthcare, senior care, claims, or revenue-cycle experience is highly preferred.
• AI/automation experience is required.
• Stable career history: consistent employment, reasonable tenure in recent roles, and demonstrated career progression; avoid candidates with a pattern of frequent short-term job changes.
