Position Summary:
The Clinical Informatics Specialist collaborates with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to assess, design, implement, and optimize health information technology solutions that improve patient outcomes, clinician efficiency, and organizational performance. This role applies clinical expertise, informatics principles, and process improvement methodologies to support workflow redesign, system enhancement, implementation, training, and ongoing optimization across clinical settings.
Partners with internal and external stakeholders to analyze current and future-state clinical workflows and develop effective technology-enabled solutions.
Participates in the planning, design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of new and existing clinical informatics and Health IT functionality.
Serves as a liaison between clinical departments and Information Services, communicating issues, requirements, workflow impacts, and recommended solutions.
Defines and documents user requirements, system scope, configurations, customizations, and support processes for assigned applications. Optimizes and tests clinical systems, supports troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, and recommends and implements system changes in accordance with change management standards. Develops and delivers end-user education, training materials, and support resources for system implementations and enhancements.
Participates in clinical councils, committees, and interdisciplinary initiatives, providing clinical and technical expertise to inform decision-making and drive improvement. Identifies and monitors key performance indicators and contributes to continuous improvement efforts through data-informed evaluation and workflow optimization. Works on multiple priorities and projects effectively, escalates barriers as needed, and supports organizational goals through collaborative problem-solving. Ensures compliance with organizational policies, procedures, documentation standards, and applicable regulatory and audit requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned in support of the department and health system.

Accountabilities:
- Clinical Workflow Analysis and Optimization:
- Analyzes current and future-state clinical workflows and collaborates with operational, clinical, and technical stakeholders to design, implement, and optimize technology-enabled solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and user experience.
- System Design, Implementation, and Support:
- Participates in the planning, design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of clinical information systems and related functionality. Supports issue investigation, root-cause analysis, and change management activities to ensure reliable system performance.
- Clinical Content and Order Set Review:
- Supports the development, review, standardization, implementation, and maintenance of clinical content, including order sets, documentation tools, decision support, and related workflows. Coordinates with subject matter experts and operational partners to ensure content reflects evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards.
- Stakeholder Partnership and Requirements Management:
- Serves as a liaison between clinical operations, end users, and Information Services to gather, define, and document business and user requirements. Communicates workflow impacts, recommends solutions, and supports prioritization of enhancements aligned with organizational goals.
- Project Execution and Continuous Improvement:
- Successfully manages assigned initiatives and deliverables by maintaining strong follow-through while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Communication, Training, and End-User Enablement:
- Develops and delivers clear written, verbal, and presentation-based communications to support implementations, enhancements, and workflow changes. Provides education, training materials, and end-user support resources to promote adoption and effective use of clinical technologies.
- Change Leadership and Governance Participation:
- Supports organizational change by participating in committees, councils, and interdisciplinary workgroups, and by helping stakeholders understand the impact of technology and workflow changes. Contributes to governance, standardization, and decision-making processes that advance clinical and operational priorities.
- Professional Practice, Innovation, and Compliance:
- Maintains current knowledge of clinical informatics, healthcare technology, and emerging industry practices. Demonstrates professionalism, independent judgment, and accountability while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, documentation standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable audit expectations.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree (Healthcare related) is required, Masters is preferred.
- 1+ years previous informatics education or experience preferred.
