Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer, BI to design, develop, and support scalable OLTP, Business Intelligence, and Data Warehouse solutions using Microsoft technologies.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, and data warehousing. This role will be responsible for developing enterprise-grade ETL/ELT processes, data models, dashboards, reports, and database solutions while helping modernize existing BI and data platforms using Microsoft Fabric and Azure cloud technologies.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Engineers, and other cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable OLTP, OLAP, Business Intelligence, and Data Warehouse solutions.
Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes using SSIS, Microsoft Fabric Pipelines, and/or Azure Data Factory (ADF).
Develop advanced SSIS Script Tasks using C# or VB.NET for file operations, automation, and custom business logic.
Build and implement solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including:
Fabric Lakehouse
Fabric Warehouse
Fabric Pipelines
Dataflows Gen2
Semantic Models
Support modernization and migration of existing ETL and reporting solutions to Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
Develop, optimize, and maintain complex T-SQL stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database objects.
Work with advanced SQL Server concepts including transaction isolation levels, table hints, deadlocks, linked servers, OPENQUERY, and column-level encryption.
Perform advanced SQL Server performance tuning, including execution plan analysis, indexing, partitioning, and transaction optimization.
Design and enhance OLTP and OLAP data models based on business, analytical, and performance requirements.
Design and maintain dimensional data models and data marts.
Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, KPIs, and visual analytics.
Work with Tableau where required.
Build and support integrations using REST APIs, including testing and troubleshooting through Postman and related tools.
Validate data quality and integrity across data warehouses, semantic models, dashboards, reports, and data extracts.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to databases, ETL processes, reporting, data quality, performance, capacity, replication, and distributed data.
Participate in incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and remediation activities.
Support large-scale data migration initiatives.
Maintain technical documentation and follow established change-control procedures.
Ensure solutions comply with applicable data governance, cybersecurity, regulatory, and data protection requirements.
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to identify requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
Stay current with emerging data engineering, BI, Microsoft Fabric, and cloud technologies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
6+ years of experience in reporting and data warehouse development.
5+ years of software development experience with the Microsoft BI platform, including SQL Server.
4+ years of database development experience using Microsoft SQL Server / T-SQL in OLTP environments.
2+ years of experience developing Data Marts using dimensional data models.
2+ years of experience developing Power BI and/or Tableau dashboards and KPI visualizations.
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and modern Microsoft data platforms.
Strong experience with SSIS and ETL/ELT development.
Experience with Azure Data Factory and/or Fabric Pipelines.
Strong knowledge of SQL Server performance tuning and optimization.
Experience with large-scale data migration projects.
Hands-on experience with Oracle.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
