Contract
ONSITE in Richmond, VA

Job Description
This position supports client in engineering, deploying, securing, and administering Windows 11 endpoints across an 8,000+ device environment using SCCM, automation, and modern endpoint management frameworks. The role collaborates closely with senior engineering staff to deliver secure, reliable, and efficient workstation services statewide.

Responsibilities
The position's key responsibilities will be:
  • Contribute to the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT devices across an enterprise network, supporting IT modernization efforts
  • Create and update enterprise desktop images, including non-standard workstation images for standalone systems
  • Perform frequent security updates and deliveries of enterprise desktop images
  • Diagnose and recommend solutions for security or functionality issues in desktop images
  • Maintain and secure all enterprise endpoints, ensuring compliance with security standards and functionality requirements
  • Identify, log, and track user-reported issues, such as software conflicts and hardware device malfunctions, through the IT incident ticketing system
  • Resolve Tier III technical support tickets escalated to the Desktop Engineering team, escalating further if required
  • Assist technical staff with software installation, peripheral setup, and basic troubleshooting
  • Analyze deployment failures, identify problematic trends, and recommend corrective actions to enhance operational efficiency
  • Ensure timely restoration, maintenance, and replacement of IT equipment, including laptops, tablets and workstations
  • Recommend and implement technologies, processes, and knowledge management tools to enhance desktop engineering effectiveness
  • Maintain and update documentation on desktop system/network configurations, software inventory, and automation trends

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications are the essential, non-negotiable requirements a candidate must meet to be considered for the position.
  • 2+ years of proven work experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or equivalent certification.
  • 5+ years of proven work experience in a similar role may be considered in lieu of degree or certification.
  • Proven experience in complex troubleshooting with an emphasis on Microsoft Operating and Windows software applications, as well as an advanced knowledge of the Windows registry.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, GPO, Entra ID join models, and identity-based management.
  • Proven working knowledge of scripting including batch, PowerShell, and Visual Basic. An aptitude for streamlining processes through scripting and light programming to increase productivity and minimize errors.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred qualifications are desirable but non-mandatory job skills, experience, or education that make an applicant an ideal candidate, helping them stand out among other applicants who meet the minimum qualifications.

3-5+ years of professional experience in Windows endpoint engineering and administration.

Experience administering BitLocker, MBAM, and related encryption recovery processes.
