Job Summary
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to support the quality of purchased components, new products, new processes, and changes to existing manufacturing systems. The role will work closely with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams to drive supplier development, implement corrective actions, improve control plans, eliminate defects, and support continuous quality improvement.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Supplier Quality/Quality Engineering, PPAP, PFMEA/FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, process capability studies, supplier audits, root-cause analysis, CAPA, GD&T, and blueprint reading, preferably within machining, assembly, engine/power equipment, automotive, or industrial manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement quality system procedures and recommend improvements to quality processes.
- Work with cross-functional teams to achieve daily and long-term quality objectives.
- Develop and support quality initiatives focused on customer satisfaction and defect prevention.
- Support suppliers with Control Plans, FMEA/PFMEA, Process Capability Studies, MSA, checklists, and related quality activities.
- Provide technical quality expertise to purchasing and supplier management teams.
- Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal teams on quality-related activities.
- Analyze quality trend data to identify problems, opportunities for improvement, and recurring defects.
- Work directly with suppliers to develop and implement corrective actions and verify their effectiveness.
- Improve supplier control plans and manufacturing processes to prevent and eliminate defects.
- Analyze finished-product and customer/consumer complaint data and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Support continuous process improvements and follow up on improvement activities.
- Perform and manage supplier PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities and obtain appropriate project team approvals.
- Conduct supplier process audits and key product audits according to established plans.
- Track supplier audit findings and follow up on improvement plans.
- Perform root-cause analysis and drive defect elimination initiatives.
- Prepare and interpret technical and quality-related information.
- Perform other quality engineering duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of Quality Engineering or Supplier Quality Engineering experience.
- Experience with quality practices, procedures, and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Knowledge of ISO/QS requirements.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools, including:
- PPAP
- PFMEA/FMEA
- Control Plans
- SPC
- MSA
- Process Capability Studies
- DOE
- Proficiency in GD&T and engineering blueprint/drawing interpretation.
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, machining, assembly, or related manufacturing processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with supplier corrective actions, CAPA, and root-cause analysis.
- Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret technical and quality data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with suppliers, purchasing teams, engineering teams, manufacturing teams, and other cross-functional groups.
- Fluency in English.

Candidates with higher levels of experience may also be considered if they have strong and relevant Supplier Quality or Quality Engineering experience.
