Must-Have Skills
1.Bachelor's degree in psychology, cognitive science, computer science, engineering, or a related research area.
2.Strong communication, interpersonal, and personal management skills.
3.Minimum 1 year of experience working in a research environment involving human subjects.
4.Ability to be onsite for data collection activities in Redmond, WA or Seattle, WA.
5.Knowledge of best practices for qual research and basic quant data analysis.
6.Experience with autonomy and decision making to balance demands

Nice-to-have Skills
1.Experience doing research on hardware prototypes

Job Description

As a researcher working with XR Tech researchers and scientists, you will have the opportunity to work with advanced technology, many new hardware and software prototypes before they become products, and prototypes developed exclusively for research. You will help plan and run sessions, setup and debug prototypes, and summarize and do preliminary analysis of data, under the guidance of a principal researcher.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with researchers to plan research and agree on procedures and protocols.
  • Independently or collaboratively setup prototypes for research sessions.
  • Help pilot research sessions, test prototypes, and develop study protocol materials.
  • Independently moderate study sessions according to the research protocol, keeping track of time, and making judgments to guide in the moment decisions.
  • Collect all data necessary during research sessions, summarize insights, and run preliminary analysis on data.

Skills

  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage one's time.
  • Knowledge of best practices for qual research and basic quant data analysis.
  • Experience with autonomy and decision making to balance demands.

Education/Experience

  • BA/BS or higher in a human behavior related field , such as human-computer interaction, psychology, sociology, communication, information science, media studies, computer science, or economics.
