The Retention & Sales Associate is responsible for new sales and retention for commercial group business represented by our Community and School Pools in an assigned geographic territory. The role is also responsible for managing existing experience-rated and self-funded groups with fewer than 100 enrolled subscribers within the same territory. In addition, this position maintains strong broker relationships within this market segment, providing technical expertise, administrative support, education and resources to help brokers effectively promote the Company’s benefit plans and programs. 

Essential Functions  

  • Respond to and fulfill opportunities for Community & School Pool new sales within an assigned geographic territory. 
  • Responsible for retention of existing clients, effectively presenting and managing annual renewal presentations and options, working with underwriting as necessary and offering recommendations to clients based on analysis of clients’ insurance needs. 
  • Source, update and educate brokers selling our products; provides resources and information to help brokers promote the Company’s differentiated value, network strength and oral health and wellness focus.  
  • Actively promote the Company’s dental and oral wellness programs to groups offering our benefit plans on a voluntary basis, to increase plan participation and revenue from existing clients. 
  • Provide team support during peak periods of seasonal workload.  
  • Maintain knowledge of new and existing DDID and competitor products, industry trends,  new product information. Gather and report competitive information to product management. 
  • Maintain and update information in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and sales tracking system in ProClaim 2, including all group and broker interactions, and any consultation or education on products and related services.   
  • Ensures web-based quotes are being actively managed and current new prospects are added to the CRM.. 
  • Ensure credibility with clients by remaining informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislative changes, coverages, and technology. 
  • Act as liaison and sales team lead to other DDID departments as assigned by VP of Sales. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the organization’s core values, code of ethics, and compliance/security standards. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred. 
  • At least three (3) years experience in health or dental insurance industry required. 
  • Must possess or obtain an Idaho producer license in Health & Disability via the state insurance exam within 30 days of employment. 
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel and ability to learn and become subject matter expert on additional proprietary software systems.  
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. 
  • Ability to travel as required. 
  • Strong skills related to motivation, initiative and collaboration.   
  • Strong, professional written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability explain complicated technical issues. 
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective work relationships and work with a diverse group of people. 
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision. 
  • Demonstrate excellent problem solving and organization skills. 
  • Able to work as a team member. 

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Sitting/Standing (alternatively) continuously. 
  • Keyboard Use/Repetitive Hand motion continuously. 
  • Skill/ability related to comprehension, organization, reasoning/decision-making and communication appropriate to a sales position with customer facing duties.
