Description

Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and user permissions management.
- Monitor network performance, diagnose connectivity issues, and recommend improvements to infrastructure reliability.
- Manage system patching and update cycles to maintain compliance, reduce vulnerabilities, and minimize operational downtime.
- Updating systems to include but not limited to Windows Server, Windows 11, Linux, additional third-party software.
- Administer and maintain backup and recovery technologies; conduct periodic validation of restore procedures.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate, implement, and enhance system functionality and security posture.
- Stay current on emerging technologies, industry best practices, and evolving DoD compliance requirements.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Demonstrated experience as a System Administrator in a DoD or similarly regulated, security-conscious environment.
- Solid hands-on experience with VMware and/or other enterprise virtualization technologies.
- Strong proficiency in Windows Server administration, including Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Working knowledge of networking protocols, system security best practices, and IT infrastructure management.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Windows Server administration, patching, and update management.
- Experience with on-premises Type 1 hypervisors (Nutanix, VMware, Proxmox preferred).
- Familiarity with enterprise collaboration and project management tools.
- Understanding of DoD compliance frameworks, STIGs, and security hardening standards.
- Experience with enterprise backup/recovery platforms and documented DR procedures.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 3 years of relevant experience; OR
- High school diploma/GED with 6+ years of equivalent hands-on experience in a system administration role.
Required Certifications
- CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570/8140 compliant)
- Active TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Certifications (not required)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Nutanix Certified Professional or VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- CompTIA Security X (Formerly CASP +)
