Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Accountant

Job Title: FP&A Accountant 
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 09.00 - 17.00 36.25 hours per week 
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 and up to 20% bonus and benefits 
Location: Hybrid work from either our London (Holborn) or Blackpool office (FY4 2FB, free parking at office)

Reporting to the Head of FP&A, this is a highly visible role supporting financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and performance reporting across the business. Working closely with stakeholders at all levels, the FP&A Accountant will transform financial and operational data into meaningful insight, develop forecasting models, analyse business performance, and support strategic and commercial initiatives. With exposure to senior leadership, Board reporting and a broad range of financial and operational challenges, this role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to develop their career within a growing financial services business.
  
Your Impact: Building a sustainable tomorrow  

As an FP&A Accountant at Tandem your focus will be on:  

Financial Planning & Forecasting 

• Develop and maintain budgeting, forecasting and planning models. 
• Forecast lending balances, net interest income, EIR / fee income and portfolio profitability. 
• Support quarterly reforecasts, annual budgeting and planning processes. 
• Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis to support decision-making. 
• Work with stakeholders across the business to understand key assumptions, risks and opportunities.  

Management Reporting & Analysis 

• Produce monthly management reporting, performance analysis and forecast updates. 
• Analyse and explain performance against budget and forecast, identifying key drivers of variance. 
• Prepare clear commentary and presentations for senior management and Board reporting. 
• Support ad hoc financial analysis and strategic decision-making.  

Business Partnering 

• Partner with designated business divisions, providing financial insight and performance support. 
• Support stakeholders in understanding P&L performance and forecast expectations. 
• Challenge assumptions constructively and improve understanding of business performance. 
• Support business cases, investment appraisals and strategic initiatives.  

Data & Continuous Improvement 

• Use Excel, SQL and Power BI to analyse financial and operational data. 
• Enhance financial models, reporting tools and forecasting methodologies. 
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, automation and forecasting accuracy.  

We’d love to hear from you if you have: 

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). 
• Experience within Financial Services, Banking, Consumer Lending or FinTech. 
• Experience in FP&A, Commercial Finance, Management Accounting or Finance Business Partnering. 
• Strong financial modelling, forecasting and analytical skills, including experience developing and maintaining forecasting models. 
• Advanced Excel skills. 
• Experience using SQL and Power BI. 
• Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills. 
• Experience producing management reporting and variance analysis. 
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.  

It would be great, but not essential if you have: 

• Experience forecasting lending balances, income and profitability. 
• Understanding of key financial services performance drivers. 
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
