Position overview

• We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Databricks Data Engineer with specific, hands-on experience converting existing Power BI semantic models, DAX measures, and business KPIs into Databricks Metric Views.
• The ideal candidate must have delivered a Power BI-to-Databricks Metric Views conversion or migration project not merely general Databricks development or Power BI dashboard development.
• The role requires strong knowledge of DAX calculation logic, Databricks SQL, YAML-based Metric View definitions, dimensional modeling, and Databricks dashboard development using centralized metrics.
• The engineer will analyze existing Power BI reports and semantic models, translate business logic into reusable Databricks metrics, validate calculation parity, and build dashboards that consume governed metric definitions.
• The goal is to centralize business metrics, improve consistency across reporting platforms, and reduce duplication of KPI logic.

Required technical skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks Metric Views and their development, configuration, and consumption.
- Demonstrated delivery experience with a Power BI to Databricks Metric Views conversion project.
- Strong DAX skills, including interpretation and migration of complex measures.
- Proficiency in Databricks SQL and SQL-based data validation.
- Hands-on experience writing and troubleshooting YAML-based Metric View definitions.
- Practical experience developing Databricks dashboards using Metric Views.
- Strong understanding of semantic models, fact and dimension tables, relationships, measures, and aggregations.
- Experience reconciling KPIs between Power BI and Databricks.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and explain differences in calculation behavior.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Unity Catalog and governed metric definitions.
- Experience with Delta Lake and Databricks lakehouse architecture.
- Experience with Power BI datasets, semantic models, and enterprise reporting.
- Familiarity with Git-based version control, testing, and deployment workflows.
- Experience working with business analysts, BI developers, data architects, and reporting teams.
- Experience migrating enterprise reporting workloads from BI-layer calculations to a centralized metrics layer.
