Tool Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Tool Design Engineer - Softgoods to support tooling and fixture development in Boulder, CO. The role will involve analyzing product geometry from the Product Design team and developing tooling and fixture design concepts in collaboration with Design and Test Engineers. The engineer will create and release tooling CAD to vendors, support the Design for Manufacturability (DFM) process, and perform First Article Inspection (FAI) upon receipt of tooling. Strong CAD expertise and practical manufacturing knowledge are essential for this position.

Key Skills

• Tooling and mold design experience, including injection molding
• Strong 3D and 2D CAD skills
• NX, SolidWorks, or ProE/Creo preferred
• Tooling and fixture CAD design
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
• First Article Inspection (FAI)
• Practical knowledge of manufacturing principles

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in the design of tooling and molds, including injection molding
• Strong 3D and 2D CAD skills
• Experience with NX, SolidWorks, or ProE/Creo preferred
• Practical knowledge of manufacturing principles
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Product Design, Design Engineering, Test Engineering, and vendors
• Team-oriented approach with a willingness to contribute beyond defined responsibilities

Additional Skills

• Ability to analyze product geometry and CAD from Product Design teams
• Experience developing tooling and fixture design concepts
• Experience developing testing fixtures in collaboration with Test Engineers
• Ability to release CAD to vendors
• Experience supporting vendors through the DFM process
• Experience performing FAI on received tooling
