Job Description
Earthwise, a Bunzl company, is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and organized Senior Accounting Clerk to join our Accounting team. As a Senior Accounting Clerk, you will perform a variety of accounting and administrative functions to support the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. You will be responsible for maintaining financial records, processing transactions, performing account reconciliations, supporting month-end close activities, and assisting with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and capable of handling multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
As part of Bunzl's Earthwise segment, you'll support the sales of reusable shopping bags and custom-branded bag programs designed to help retailers reduce single-use waste and meet sustainability goals. Our product portfolio includes reusable grocery bags, insulated bags, tote bags, wine and beverage bags, and seasonal promotional bags. Customers include grocery chains, retailers, convenience stores, and other commercial businesses seeking innovative, environmentally responsible solutions
This is a remote (work from home) role that can sit anywhere in United States. There may be some travel to our Glendale, CA office required a few times a year.
Responsibilities:
- Manage customer account setup and maintenance, including credit limits, reporting requirements, and account master data in the AS400.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries regarding billing, payments, account status, and collections.
- Process customer payments, credits, adjustments, and account reconciliations while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, deductions, chargebacks, and other account-related issues.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports, proactively follow up on delinquent accounts, and escalate credit risks to management.
- Maintain accurate documentation of collection activities, customer communications, and account records.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, report balancing, and general ledger review.
- Support internal and external audit activities by preparing and providing required documentation and financial records.
- Provide cross-functional support and backup coverage for Accounts Payable and other accounting functions as needed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in special projects that enhance departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
- Achieve individual performance objectives, complete required training, and contribute to departmental and company goals.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls while delivering a high level of customer service.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associate/Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, including knowledge of basic accounting principles and the A/R & A/P processes.
- Must be detailed oriented and organized.
- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently or as a team.
- Effectively use Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, & Copilot.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
- Experience with AS400 a plus, but not required.

- Bunzl hourly pay range for this role is $26.00 - $32.00/hour based on education, experience and location.
- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance available to employees and eligible dependents starting the first day of the month after 30 days of employment (unless otherwise specified by a collective bargaining agreement).
- 401(k) retirement plan with a generous company match of $0.75 per $1.00 contributed, up to 6% of eligible pay, available after 30 days.
- Paid time off, including (Pro-rated based on hire date):
- 10 vacation days and 2 personal days annually (prorated in the first year based on hire date).
- 40 hours annual sick pay (56 hours sick pay per year for candidates hired in Washington, in accordance with Washington State law).
- 6 paid national holidays and 2 floating holidays
