Middle Office Operations Manager (ETD) - Hays

An established global financial services organisation is looking for an experienced Middle Office ETD Manager to join its Markets Operations function in London.This is a senior, hands-on position supporting a large and complex Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) business, with particular responsibility for cash reconciliations, exception management, break remediation, balance sheet integrity and operational controls.Managing a London-based team of approximately 10, you will take ownership of day-to-day ETD reconciliation activity while working closely with Operations, Finance, Product Control and senior business stakeholders across a global operating model.
Key responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day reconciliation of ETD cash types and remediation of outstanding breaks and exceptions.
• Lead and provide hands-on oversight to a London-based team of approximately 10.
• Oversee reconciliation processes and the operational control environment supporting Futures / Exchange Traded Derivatives.
• Take ownership of a significant workflow relating to ETD pass-through fees, investigating discrepancies and driving issues through to root-cause resolution.
• Provide balance sheet control oversight, ensuring the accuracy of revenue and transaction expenses.
• Track, manage and communicate material exceptions and remediation activity to senior Operations and business stakeholders.
• Partner with Product Control, Finance, Operations and other stakeholders to resolve complex issues.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, reduce operational risk and simplify processes.
• Lead projects and change initiatives aligned to operational and organisational priorities.
• Produce and present clear management information, status updates and escalation reporting to senior stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to relevant control, compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Provide leadership, coaching and development to the team while ensuring key deliverables and efficiency targets are achieved.

What we're looking for
The successful candidate will ideally bring:

• Significant experience within Exchange Traded Derivatives / Futures Clearing Operations.
• Strong knowledge of the ETD lifecycle, particularly cash movements, reconciliations and exception management.
• Experience investigating and resolving complex cash and reconciliation breaks.
• A strong understanding of balance sheet controls, accounting principles and operational control frameworks.
• Previous people management experience within a Markets Operations or Middle Office environment.
• Experience leading operational improvement, remediation or change initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify root causes rather than simply manage exceptions.
• The confidence to communicate with senior Operations, Finance and business stakeholders.
• Experience operating within a complex, global financial markets environment.
• A proactive, control-focused mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities and drive issues through to resolution.
