Job Description

DevOps Engineer

+6 months +

+Inside IR35

+ 575 - 610 a day

+SC cleared role - sole British nationals only due to nature of the project

+Fully remote working

CBSbutler are supporting a large organisation delivering a critical UK public sector programme and are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer / DevOps SME to strengthen platform delivery, automation and secure release capability.



What you'll be doing

  • Designing and improving CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, repeatable deployments
  • Implementing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for automated environment provisioning
  • Supporting containerised platforms and orchestration to improve scalability and resilience
  • Embedding security and compliance controls into engineering workflows (DevSecOps)
  • Driving observability improvements across monitoring, logging and alerting
  • Advising engineering teams on DevOps best practice and helping remove delivery bottlenecks


Essential experience

  • Typically 5-10+ years in DevOps / systems engineering / software engineering
  • Strong hands-on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
  • Containers & orchestration: Docker + Kubernetes
  • Cloud platform depth: AWS / Azure / GCP (networking, compute, storage, security)
  • CI/CD tooling: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, CircleCI (or similar)
  • Monitoring & logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack (or equivalent)
  • DevSecOps: integrating security into pipelines and delivery (e.g., SonarQube, Snyk, OWASP practices)
