Test Specialist – Environmental Lab

We are seeking a hands-on Test Specialist – Environmental Lab to support the development, qualification, acceptance, and production testing of flight hardware. This role will operate in a fast-paced test environment where careful preparation, disciplined execution, and rapid problem-solving are essential to delivering reliable flight and mission systems.

The Test Specialist – Environmental Lab will work directly with test engineers, design engineers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, and quality teams to configure and execute vibration, shock, and modal tests. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with complex test equipment, mechanical fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems—and is motivated by solving difficult problems with limited precedent.

  • Review time histories, frequency spectra, power spectral density plots, transmissibility, and frequency-response data for anomalies.
  • Maintain complete and accurate test records, including setup photographs, calibration data, channel lists, configuration data, deviations, and results.
  • Participate in 5S, safety, tooling, process-improvement, and laboratory-efficiency initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe test area in accordance with company and facility requirements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet demanding test schedules and program milestones.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of experience in aerospace, defense, aviation, automotive, manufacturing, laboratory testing, or a related technical environment.
  • Hands-on experience operating test equipment, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, work instructions, schematics, test procedures, and equipment documentation.
  • Ability to use common hand tools and calibrated torque tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following approved procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems systematically and communicate findings clearly.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, schedule-driven environment.
  • Ability to lift, handle, and position test hardware and equipment in accordance with applicable safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use PPE, when required.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Aerospace, automotive, defense or other high-reliability hardware testing
  • Environmental testing: MIL-STD-810H tests including vibration, thermal-vacuum, thermal cycling, shock, salt fog, and sand and dust
  • Experience using accelerometers, strain gauges, load cells, force transducers, thermocouples and signal-conditioning equipment.
  • Ability to identify process improvements, and make suggestions to engineers to improve workflow
