Job Description

As Director Business Development, you'll identify and analyze critical new business development opportunities, develop and execute capture/growth strategies, build the right team and solution, and influence stakeholders and customers to win new contracts. You'll drive all capture and BD lifecycle opportunities and develop foundations for the win strategy and technical approach for each new product opportunity that directly relates to the needs, issues and challenges of the customer in the defense market in US and across the globe.

Your duties will also include staying current on market trends, key customer budgets, and future customer needs through independent research, customer engagement, partnership engagement, and provide analysis on competitive Requests for Proposal (RFPs) to understand customer requirements. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems.

Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of business development initiatives within the Aerospace and Defense sector.
  • Oversee the identification and acquisition of high-value business opportunities.
  • Build and manage relationships with senior-level clients and industry stakeholders.
  • Direct the execution of comprehensive capture strategies to secure major contracts.
  • Conduct high-level market assessments to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align business development strategies with organizational goals.
  • Prepare and deliver strategic business proposals and presentations to executive clients.
  • Analyze and report on business development performance and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Mentor and develop the business development team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 13+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 17 years of related experience is required.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following disciplines: business development, capture management, program management, science and engineering programs, acquisition processes, opportunity identification and qualification.
  • With a focus on U.S. Army customer, demonstrated ability to work with senior business and government leaders and to provide leadership within the workplace.
  • Working knowledge and experience with engineering support acquisition organizations.
  • Experience developing account plans and capture plans for new business opportunities.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of War and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Shows strong decision-making skills by clearly stating the BLUF (bottom line up front), highlighting what matters most, simplifying complex information, & making timely, well-reasoned decisions that drive the biggest impact (80/20).

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience working with U.S. Army Air Defense / C-UAS market
  • Advanced skills in assessing outside vendor competitive analysis and price-to-win target setting, by gathering data from multiple, often disparate, qualitative and quantitative sources and synthesizing it into meaningful reports and presentations.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral, written, and presentation) and an exquisite attention to detail.
  • Previous management experience; ability to recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Demonstrated passion for ideation and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose.
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies.
  • Possess a strategic mindset, linking technology and business.
  • Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of US Government budgeting and DoW acquisition processes.
  • Experience with industry-specific research tools.
  • Advanced skills with the Microsoft Office Suite, to include PowerPoint and Excel functions.
  • Active Secret Clearance; Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Regular use of hand/finger dexterity for typing and writing.
  • Ability to travel is required.
  • Capability to work in an office or hybrid environment.

This position requires current/active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment.
