About the Role
Join a growing Series A industrial recycling technology company as a hands-on Mechanical Engineer. You will design and deliver physical systems for metal sorting, taking equipment from CAD through installation and commissioning in demanding scrapyard environments.
What You'll Do
Design singulation, conveyance, and material handling systems that position scrap accurately at the sensor head.
Own machine frames, enclosures, guarding, and sensor mounts, maintaining optical alignment in high-vibration conditions.
Manage tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, design for manufacturing, and fabrication drawing packages with vendors and machine shops.
Lead equipment installation, commissioning, testing, and field improvements.
Model throughput and uptime, plan facility layouts and line balancing, and ensure equipment is accessible for maintenance.
What We're Looking For
Three to seven years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience in hardware, automation, robotics, aerospace, semiconductors, or a similarly complex field.
A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience owning mechanical or electromechanical systems from design through build, testing, and commissioning.
Proficiency with CAD, SolidWorks, GD&T, and release of fabrication drawing packages.
Experience working independently on equipment installation and commissioning, including travel for field work.
Familiarity with material handling, servo and pneumatic actuation, PLCs, FMEA, structural or vibration analysis, and tolerance stack-ups.
Practical experience building and iterating hardware in factory, lab, or field settings, plus vendor sourcing or machine shop coordination.
