The Role

We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead Engineer (Network) to support the operation, integration, and evolution of a large-scale IP/MPLS network environment.

This is a hands on technical leadership role suited to a highly skilled networking professional with extensive experience across carrier grade or enterprise network infrastructures. You will play a critical role in executing network changes, integrating new network elements, supporting migration activities, and ensuring the ongoing stability and performance of the organisation's core network.

The successful candidate will bring deep IP/MPLS expertise, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to operate confidently within high availability, mission critical environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute configuration changes across IP/MPLS network infrastructure and routing platforms.
  • Integrate new network elements, links, cards, and services into existing production environments.
  • Support internal engineering and delivery teams by enabling connectivity across network platforms.
  • Perform network upgrades, migrations, and maintenance activities during planned change windows.
  • Validate network performance and service functionality following implementation activities.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance on network solutions.
  • Troubleshoot complex network incidents and perform root cause analysis.
  • Ensure network changes are executed in accordance with operational and engineering standards.
  • Support capacity planning, resilience improvements, and network optimisation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess risks, dependencies, and implementation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, implementation plans, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership during critical network activities and major incidents.
What You'll Need
  • Minimum 15 years of experience working within Service Provider or large-scale Enterprise IP/MPLS environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of core networking technologies including:
    • IP/MPLS
    • IS-IS
    • OSPF
    • BGP
    • QoS (Quality of Service)
    • Layer 2 Carrier Ethernet Services
    • Layer 2 Aggregation Networks
  • Strong experience implementing and supporting complex routing and switching environments.
  • Hands on experience with one or more of the following technologies:
    • Cisco IOS-XR
    • Juniper JunOS
    • Nokia SR OS
    • Huawei NE8000
  • Proven experience performing network migrations, integrations, and operational changes in live environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across large-scale network infrastructures.
  • Experience working within high availability and mission critical operational environments.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed technical decisions during network activities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
Preferred Skills
  • Industry certifications such as:
    • JNCIP-SP
    • JNCIE-SP
    • Nokia NRS II
    • Equivalent carrier networking certifications
  • Experience within telecommunications, network service providers, or large enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting large scale network transformation programs.
  • Exposure to network automation and infrastructure modernisation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of network resiliency, redundancy, and service assurance principles.
