About the Role
Join an applied AI research team that builds expert-informed data for advanced AI systems. In this role, you will lead legal-focused projects and client relationships, helping turn rigorous professional reasoning into high-quality training data.
What You'll Do
Work with leading AI research organizations to develop datasets that support advanced AI systems.
Manage teams of subject matter experts across legal and other professional domains, guiding project execution from planning through delivery.
Partner with internal teams on AI research initiatives and improve the quality of project outputs.
Lead cross-functional initiatives as an early team member and support operational projects as needed.
What We're Looking For
At least 3 years of substantive legal experience in a leading law firm, sophisticated in-house team, government or regulatory body, or legal AI startup.
A JD or equivalent legal qualification, with experience drafting, negotiating, litigating, or providing legal advice.
Strong legal reasoning and research skills, with clear judgment about the difference between rigorous analysis and superficial answers.
Excellent communication and client management skills, plus the initiative to own projects end to end.
An undergraduate degree from a US, Canadian, or European institution; standout experience may be considered in place of a top-tier university background.
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with an intensive schedule, including the ability to work 60 or more hours when needed.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $150,000 to $200,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
Location
On-site in San Francisco, California, five days per week, Monday through Friday.
