Job Description

At IT Practice, we're passionate about helping healthcare organizations thrive through exceptional technology solutions. Based in Raleigh, NC, we provide specialized managed IT services to dental and medical practices, along with select small businesses across the state. Our team is known for delivering proactive support, industry-specific expertise, and a client-first approach. From healthcare IT and imaging systems to HIPAA compliance, cybersecurity, and network security, we solve complex technology challenges before they impact our clients, allowing them to focus on patient care and business growth.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Support Engineer to tackle complex technical escalations, maintain client infrastructure, and support critical clinical integrations. In this role, you will work closely with healthcare providers and business owners to ensure their networks remain secure, compliant, and optimized.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex Level 1 tickets, providing advanced troubleshooting for network, server, and software issues.

  • Support healthcare-specific technology, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) integrations, digital imaging hardware/software, and practice management systems.

  • Configure and manage Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and local/cloud backup solutions.

  • Maintain advanced network segmentation (partitioning clinical networks from guest access) to protect sensitive patient data and maintain HIPAA compliance.

  • Troubleshoot and manage core network hardware, including firewalls, switches, VPNs, and wireless access points.

  • Perform routine server maintenance, patch management, and security audits across client environments.

  • Mentor Level 1 engineers and contribute to detailed internal knowledge base documentation.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on technical experience, preferably within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or healthcare IT setting.

  • Technical Proficiency:

  • Deep understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, M365 Admin Center, and network administration.

  • Strong knowledge of network security, VLANs, firewalls, and data encryption.

  • Familiarity with clinical environments, EHR/EMR platforms, or dental imaging software is a major plus.

  • Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA Security+/Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, or Cisco/SonicWall certifications.

  • Key Traits: Exceptional problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize critical outages, and clear communication with clinical staff and business leadership.
