Senior Jira Administrator

Location: Boston/Quincy, MA

Client : Hexaware

Work Arrangement: Onsite 4 days per week

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Jira Administrator to support, configure, and enhance Jira Cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with ScriptRunner, Groovy scripting, Jira automation, plugin implementation, user administration, and stakeholder support.

This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work closely with business users, technical teams, and leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Jira administration or related roles.
  • Hands-on experience writing, testing, and deploying ScriptRunner scripts using Groovy.
  • Strong expertise in designing and implementing Automation for Jira rules.
  • Experience with Site Administrator privileges or higher within Jira Cloud.
  • Proven experience configuring and implementing at least five Jira Cloud plugins or add-ons.
  • Strong knowledge of Jira workflows, screens, fields, permissions, notification schemes, and project configurations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams for meetings, collaboration, and communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in U.S. English.
  • Strong customer service, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to conduct Jira training sessions, product demonstrations, and presentations for technical and nontechnical users.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading or supporting Jira migrations from Server, Data Center, or on-premises environments to Jira Cloud.
  • Experience administering and configuring Confluence.
  • Experience configuring authentication and identity integrations with Azure Active Directory, AWS, or Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Experience adding, managing, and supporting external users in Jira Cloud.
  • Experience creating, configuring, and administering Jira Service Management projects.
  • Familiarity with access controls, security settings, user groups, and enterprise-level Jira governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and maintain Jira Cloud environments.
  • Develop and deploy Groovy scripts using ScriptRunner.
  • Design and maintain Jira automation rules to improve operational efficiency.
  • Configure workflows, issue types, custom fields, screens, permissions, notifications, and project settings.
  • Evaluate, implement, and support Jira Cloud plugins and integrations.
  • Support Jira Cloud migrations, upgrades, testing, and post-migration activities.
  • Create and administer Jira Service Management projects.
  • Manage internal and external users, groups, roles, and access permissions.
  • Troubleshoot Jira-related issues and provide timely support to users.
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend effective Jira solutions.
  • Develop user documentation, training materials, and best-practice guidelines.
  • Conduct Jira training sessions and presentations for business and technical teams.
  • Maintain platform security, governance, stability, and performance.
