Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Atlan Governance & Access Architect to design, implement, and optimize a scalable governance and access control framework for a large-scale Data Marketplace platform built on Atlan. The environment supports approximately 500 internal users and 2,000+ external customers, requiring a secure, compliant, and maintainable governance model.

This is a hands-on architecture and engineering role focused on RBAC/ABAC design, Atlan governance configuration, SSO/SCIM integrations, access controls, metadata governance, and user lifecycle automation.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement a scalable governance and access framework within Atlan for internal and external users.
Diagnose and resolve persona, policy, group mapping, and visibility issues during UAT and production onboarding.
Architect and implement least-privilege RBAC and ABAC models across multiple access tiers and overlapping user groups.
Configure and manage Atlan Personas, Purposes, Policies, Domains, Classifications, and Data Products.
Define clear separation between metadata visibility and source system data access controls.
Integrate Atlan with Okta or Microsoft Entra ID using SSO and SCIM provisioning/deprovisioning.
Automate governance configurations, user onboarding, and validation processes through APIs and SDKs.
Collaborate with Security, Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and Governance teams to align access controls with enterprise standards.
Implement governance approval workflows, DSAA requirements, access expiration policies, exception handling, periodic reviews, and audit mechanisms.
Lead positive and negative UAT testing, troubleshoot access issues, and support phased onboarding strategies with rollback procedures.
Develop governance access matrices, architecture documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge-transfer materials.
Ensure governance policies are scalable, auditable, and compliant with organizational security standards.
Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Platforms, Information Security, IAM, or Data Architecture.
5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing RBAC/ABAC frameworks for enterprise environments supporting 1,000+ users.
Hands-on experience in at least 1-2 enterprise Atlan implementations.

Experience with user lifecycle automation, group mapping, provisioning, and deprovisioning.
Deep understanding of governance workflows, auditability, compliance controls, and approval frameworks.
Strong troubleshooting, stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills

Experience supporting enterprise Data Marketplace initiatives.
Knowledge of Data Security, Privacy, and Regulatory Compliance frameworks.
Familiarity with APIs, SDKs, and Infrastructure Automation.
Experience designing governance models for external customer access and multi-tenant environments.
Strong UAT leadership and defect resolution experience.
Nice to Have

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
Knowledge of data cataloging, lineage, data quality, and metadata management best practices.
Experience implementing governance controls for large-scale customer-facing data products.
