Job Description

Mindbank Consulting Group is seeking a cleared Senior Platform Engineer in San Diego, CA, to support the development and operation of secure, scalable platform environments for AI/ML, analytics, autonomous systems, and other mission-focused applications. • Location: San Diego, CA - 100% onsite, five days per week • Compensation: $165,000–$220,000, based on relevant experience and skills • Clearance: active Top Secret clearance is required; TS/SCI eligible or active TS/SCI preferred. This is a senior hands-on platform engineering role involving AWS GovCloud, Kubernetes/ OpenShift, infrastructure as code, containers, DevSecOps, cloud security, and distributed systems. The engineer will work across cloud infrastructure, platform services, data flows, and application environments to build and maintain reliable systems in secure government environments.

The position requires someone who can work comfortably across architecture, implementation, troubleshooting, security, and operational concerns, while also collaborating with software engineers, AI/ML teams, and other technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities • Design, build, configure, and maintain secure and scalable cloud and platform environments supporting AI/ML, analytics, and autonomous systems. • Develop and maintain infrastructure in AWS GovCloud and other secure government cloud environments. • Build and support containerized environments using Kubernetes and/or OpenShift. • Implement infrastructure as code and automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation. • Support secure data flows and platform services across cloud, on-premises, and other distributed environments. • Develop and maintain DevSecOps processes, including CI/CD pipelines, automated configuration, testing, security scanning, and deployment. • Apply DoD cybersecurity requirements, including STIGs, vulnerability management, secure configuration, and system hardening. • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud, network, container, and application environments. • Evaluate platform performance, scalability, reliability, and cost, and recommend improvements. • Work with software engineering and AI/ML teams to provide the infrastructure and platform capabilities required by their applications. • Participate in architecture discussions, technical planning, design reviews, and technical decision-making. • Document platform architecture, configurations, processes, and operational procedures. • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers. • Adapt and integrate open-source technologies and platform components for secure government environments.

Required Qualifications • U.S.

Citizenship required - No dual citizenship. • Active Top Secret security clearance required - TS/SCI eligible or active TS/SCI preferred. • Travel & Passport - 15%, CONUS and OCONUS - Current Passport Required. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. • Significant experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps/DevSecOps, cloud architecture, or distributed systems. • Strong hands-on experience with AWS, preferably including AWS GovCloud. • Strong experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift and containerized environments. • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code and automation, including Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. • Experience developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes. • Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity and access management, storage, compute, security, and monitoring. • Experience securing and hardening systems in regulated or government environments. • Experience with DoD cybersecurity practices, STIGs, vulnerability management, and secure configuration. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across cloud, networking, containers, and distributed systems. • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
