Job Description

Fitter Supervisor - Maritime

Job Summary
We are seeking a Fitter Supervisor - Maritime (Steel Fitter Foreman) to lead and coordinate outside steelworker activities supporting new ship construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance projects. This first-shift, Monday-Friday role (6:30am-4:00pm) provides on-site leadership by monitoring progress, coaching teams, driving accountability, ensuring quality standards, and delivering work to schedule. This position includes direct supervision of up to 40 employees, with domestic travel as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret shipbuilding drawings, structural specifications, work packages, fabrication schedules, and engineering requirements to determine material needs and work sequences
  • Plan and oversee steel fitting, structural fabrication, assembly, alignment, and installation activities for shipboard structures, tanks, compartments, and equipment
  • Coordinate workforce assignments, monitor production schedules, and ensure work is completed in accordance with quality, safety, environmental, and project requirements
  • Plan activities and overtime as needed to meet project demands
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret shipbuilding drawings, specifications, work packages, fabrication schedules, and engineering requirements
  • Experience planning and supervising steel fitting and structural fabrication/assembly/alignment/installation work in a shipyard or maritime environment
  • Proven leadership capability to direct teams and manage production schedules while maintaining quality, safety, and environmental standards
  • Ability to coordinate labor assignments and support project deadlines, including overtime planning when required
  • Willingness to travel domestically as needed
