Job Purpose

We are looking for a Policy Executive to join our Policy Team to work across policy, regulatory, and strategic issues related to UK-EU cooperation on energy and climate policy. The postholder will have a particular focus on the ongoing ‘reset’ between the UK and European Union, linking Emissions Trading Schemes, the possible reintegration of the UK into the EU internal electricity market, and any European policy developments that may impact the UK’s energy market. They will also act as a focal point on how examples of policymaking in the EU could be instructive to the UK’s energy and climate policy.

The postholder will work closely with members and other stakeholders and will have opportunities to develop and increase their knowledge of the energy industry by supporting the teams in managing working groups, developing policy positions, conducting research, drafting briefings and responding to consultations on key policy areas.

Responsibilities

• Working with Energy UK members and relevant external stakeholders to help formulate policy positions that contribute to the delivery of Energy UK’s vision.
• Preparing position papers, drafting consultation responses, and preparing industry reports for submission to Government and other stakeholders.
• Helping to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders including MPs, Government officials, NGOs, policy think tanks, consumer advocates and other opinion formers.
• Working collaboratively across Energy UK’s teams and other trade associations in the UK and Europe to make the most of Energy UK’s cross-sectoral expertise, membership and reach.
• Helping to ensure that Energy UK members are kept up to date with relevant policy developments across the UK and EU.
• Representing the views of Energy UK’s membership to policymakers at stakeholder forums.
• Managing the relationship between Energy UK and European organisations of which Energy UK is a member.
• Such other tasks as may be reasonably determined from time to time.
