Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support a federal government database environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for administering, maintaining, monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and upgrading Oracle databases supporting production business and web applications.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, security updates, database upgrades, and production support. Experience supporting federal government environments is preferred, with Denali Commission (Alaska) experience highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Oracle databases supporting production applications.
- Monitor database performance, availability, reliability, and overall health.
- Perform database tuning and performance optimization.
- Troubleshoot database issues and resolve production incidents.
- Perform database patching, security updates, and version upgrades.
- Manage backup and recovery procedures and ensure data integrity.
- Support database migrations, data interfaces, and application/database integration.
- Coordinate database issue triage, technical requirements, risks, transitions, and decommissioning activities as required.
- Support integration between Oracle databases and application platforms such as Adobe ColdFusion.
- Maintain accurate database documentation and provide status updates and performance metrics.
- Support monthly reporting, status reporting, and other PWS/QASP requirements.
- Work within an AWS-hosted application/database environment as required.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database in production environments.
- Experience with database monitoring, tuning, and performance optimization.
- Experience with database patching, security updates, and version upgrades.
- Experience with backup, recovery, and data integrity processes.
- Experience troubleshooting database and application/database integration issues.
- Experience supporting database migrations and data interfaces.
- Experience working in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Experience supporting production web or business applications.
- Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Federal Experience
- Federal government experience is preferred but not mandatory, unless otherwise required by the final solicitation.
- Experience supporting federal databases, applications, or IT programs is highly desirable.
- Denali Commission (Alaska) experience is strongly preferred.
Preferred Certifications
Candidates with at least one of the following certifications are preferred:
- Oracle Database Administration 2019 Certified Professional (OCP)
- Oracle Database 19c: Performance Management and Tuning
- Oracle Database 19c: Data Guard Administration
Security / Suitability Requirements
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Non-Sensitive Public Trust suitability, as applicable.
- Ability to obtain and use required government credentials, including PIV or YubiKey.
- Personnel accessing government systems may be subject to government NDA and suitability requirements.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Oracle DBA with at least 3 years of experience supporting production databases. The candidate should have strong experience in database administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, patching, upgrades, backup/recovery, and database security.
Federal government experience is preferred, and Denali Commission experience is a strong plus, but candidates without federal experience may still be considered if they meet the core Oracle DBA requirements.
