Job type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, working a shift pattern

Shifts: Shift Pattern is 3 shifts Monday to Friday:

Earlies: 06:00 to 13:30 Monday to Friday

Lates: 13:30 to 21:00 Monday to Thursday, 13:30 to 20:30 Friday

Nights: 21:00 to 06:00 Monday to Friday

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated and multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join a busy manufacturing operation.

You will help ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operation of production machinery, site infrastructure and facilities. The position involves carrying out planned maintenance, responding to breakdowns and contributing to projects designed to improve equipment reliability, production efficiency and site safety.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and dependable engineer who can work independently while contributing effectively to a wider engineering and production team. You must have experience of working in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults systematically.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
  • Ensure all machinery is left in a safe and operational condition following repairs.
  • Identify and implement equipment improvements and remedial work.
  • Support machinery upgrades and continuous-improvement projects.
  • Improve the reliability, performance and efficiency of production equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation and site procedures.
  • Follow safe systems of work, including permits, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Complete effective shift handovers covering operational, safety and quality matters.
  • Work across different machines and production areas when required.
  • Promote high standards of health and safety, engineering practice and housekeeping.
  • Maintain the workshop, tools and engineering equipment to a high standard.
  • Assist the wider operation in achieving its production and performance targets.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Multi-skilled maintenance experience, preferably with an electrical bias.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities.
  • Experience of planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Previous experience within a printing, FMCG or production environment.
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, including permits to work, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic Microsoft Office experience.
  • A flexible approach to supporting manufacturing requirements.
