Data Scientist (3 to 5 Years)

PhonePe is seeking a highly analytical and driven Data Scientist to join our team. This role requires a minimum of one year of professional experience and a robust foundation in scalable machine learning implementations.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and deploying sophisticated models and reusable ML frameworks that improve productivity and help drive strategic business initiatives.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically-minded Data Scientist to join our growing data science team in Pune, India. In this role, you will leverage advanced statistical techniques and machine learning methodologies to extract actionable insights from complex datasets, driving data-informed decision-making across the organization. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and optimize predictive models that solve real-world business challenges.

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models to address business problems and improve organizational performance
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in large and complex datasets
• Clean, preprocess, and transform raw data into structured formats suitable for analysis and modeling
• Build and validate statistical models using appropriate algorithms and evaluation metrics
• Create clear and compelling data visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
• Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and business analysts to understand requirements and deliver solutions
• Document methodologies, code, and results to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing
• Stay current with emerging data science techniques, tools, and best practices in the field
• Perform model monitoring and maintenance to ensure continued accuracy and performance in production environments
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving data science practices within the team

**Required Qualifications:**

• 3-5 years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, or related analytics roles
• Strong proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and model development
• Solid understanding of statistical methods, probability theory, and hypothesis testing
• Hands-on experience with machine learning algorithms (supervised and unsupervised learning)
• Proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating databases
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib
• Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets and handle data preprocessing challenges
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences

**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
• Familiarity with big data technologies including Apache Spark or Hadoop
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Knowledge of A/B testing, experimental design, and causal inference
• Experience with version control systems and collaborative development practices
• Domain expertise in finance, healthcare, e-commerce, or other relevant industries
• Familiarity with model deployment and MLOps practices
