Senior Software Engineer – Restaurant Tech POS & Intelligent Systems

WHAT WE’LL NEED

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to modernize and scale our Restaurant Point-of-Sale (POS) platform through cloud-native architecture and Agentic AI. This role focuses on building resilient, high-performance in-store POS systems, smart kitchen integrations, intelligent inventory workflows, and AI-powered operational agents that directly impact restaurant speed, accuracy, and profitability.

Role Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable, resilient in-store POS systems supporting order capture, modifiers, pricing, promotions, and payments.

• Design and build responsive, intuitive user interfaces optimized for speed, accuracy, and ease of use in high-volume restaurant environments.

• Design distributed APIs and backend services ensuring high availability, low latency, and offline resilience.

• Integrate POS with payment processors, peripherals (printers, scanners, kitchen displays), and store hardware.

• Develop smart kitchen routing and automated regression suites for POS-to-kitchen integrations.

• Build inventory-aware POS capabilities (item 86ing, substitutions, real-time stock synchronization).

• Design and deploy AI Agents for store troubleshooting, operational decision support, regression analysis, and developer productivity.

• Implement observability, monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, and production deployment best practices.

• Partner with restaurant operations and product teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

This role will help define the future of restaurant POS by combining transaction reliability with intelligent automation. Your work will directly improve store performance, operational efficiency, and the team’s ability to innovate at scale.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • Proven experience building high-availability, low-latency transaction processing systems.

  • Strong full-stack development experience, including responsive user interfaces, backend APIs, and scalable services.

  • Strong hands-on experience developing production web applications with React and/or Angular, including TypeScript, component-based architecture, state management, and front-end performance optimization.

  • Strong Java expertise, including Spring Boot or similar frameworks.

  • Backend development experience with Python and API architecture; FastAPI experience preferred.

    • Experience designing and supporting enterprise system integrations using APIs, messaging, file transfers, and middleware platforms.

    • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven integration patterns.

    • Experience with databases, RESTful APIs, authentication/authorization, and cloud-based deployment environments.

    • Ability to troubleshoot production issues, monitor message flows, and improve system reliability, performance, and observability.

    • Experience designing and deploying distributed systems in AWS, including services such as EKS, S3, and ElastiCache.

    • Hands-on experience deploying Generative AI or agent-based systems into production environments.

    • Familiarity with NoSQL databases and event-driven architecture patterns.

    • Strong understanding of secure coding, automated testing, source control, CI/CD, and software development lifecycle practices.

    • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.

      Preferred:

  • Strong experience in restaurant POS, retail store systems, or hospitality technology.
