Software Engineer II Java / Google CloudPlatform

Location: Hybrid, MN (2 3 days onsite per week)

Position Summary

In this role, you will develop and support cloud-based data integration solutions that enable secure data sharing with internal systems and third-party partners. You will work with a team of engineers to build scalable services, develop APIs, and improve the reliability and performance of our data integration platform.

The ideal candidate has experience with Java, Spring Boot, Google Cloud Platform, Python, and cloud-based data processing technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java and Spring Boot applications and REST APIs.

• Build and support cloud-based data integration pipelines using Google Cloud Platform services such as Dataflow, BigQuery, Airflow, and Cloud Functions.

• Develop Python scripts and services to automate data processing and workflow tasks.

• Work with cloud storage technologies including Google Cloud Storage (GCS), Amazon S3, and SFTP.

• Implement secure data transfer solutions using encryption technologies such as PGP.

• Build and support applications running in AWS using Spring Boot and related cloud services.

• Develop and optimize SQL queries and work with relational and NoSQL databases including BigQuery, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Bigtable.

• Troubleshoot production issues, monitor application health, and participate in an on-call support rotation.

• Collaborate with engineers to build reusable, scalable, and reliable integration frameworks.

• Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and deployments.

• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• 3 5 years of experience developing applications with Java and Spring Boot.

• Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including Dataflow, BigQuery, Airflow, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Storage.

• Experience programming with Python.

• Experience working with SQL and relational databases.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS.

• Experience with Git and CI/CD tools.

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data integration or ETL pipelines.

• Experience with SFTP, GCS Buckets, Amazon S3, and PGP encryption.

• Knowledge of domain-driven design, design patterns, and distributed systems.

• Experience with Bigtable, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL.

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Amazon Q, or similar technologies.

• Experience supporting production applications and participating in an on-call rotation.
